Plus, he's already been at Clemson for 13 years. By the time Saban retires, it'll be close to 20. I'm not sure your Alma Mater looks that attractive after all those years.

When Saban is gone Bama will go through some tough years again and when they do it is open season....I can't wait to destroy those chumps on a regular basis.

I know plenty hence the name UAgrad. To be honest, Bama fans wanted to have something to cheer for following the flops of DuBose, Francione, Mike "pole dancer" Price, and Mike Shula. I know each had a season of 10 wins except Price, but that is what makes Alabama unique.
Saban doesn't have any type of buyout should he elect to leave and go elsewhere or to simply retire early. I'm serious about it when I say fans wouldn't be pissed at all if he retired at the end of the season. We all know that the run will end at some point. Fans are simply happy to have the program running at such a high level.

As for Dabo Sweeny being next. I wouldn't put money on it. I believe Dabo has it made at Clemson and in the ACC much like Bowden did at FSU for all of those years. Think about it. Go to Bama and the SEC, where it is a cut throat league year in and year out, or stay at Clemson and have to only get up for a couple of games a year.

Alabama has the second most wins all time. The most conference titles all time. Over 60 bowls dating back to the early 1920's. Kentucky has the most wins all time. The most conference titles all time. 8 titles under five coaches dating back to the 1940s.

Both programs will be just fine when those coaches leave.

Saban is the most successful coach to ever coach at Bama, not even Bear did what he is doing. Will they crash and burn? No clue, but I very highly doubt they maintain the same level of dominance.

Hopefully coaches start pulling the "he's getting old" card soon in recruiting. Kind of like what happened to Paterno and Spurrier

Dabo is from Pelham,AL and played there. His next stop is AL. I don't think anyone in Alabama will dispute that for now. If Saban hangs on too long and this glimmer fades, who knows. For now, you can be assured Dabo is the next man up for AL.

With the way he is recruiting at Clamson, I don't forsee any drop off.

We've got to get better

That's is true but both programs were beatable before. Kentucky still is. But Bama not so much.

Was Alabama being Alabama when Dubose was coach? How about Shula? We beat them several years in a row or 10 out of 12, or something close to that, after Saban leaves there will be a big drop off. Bama has been luck enough to have two once in a generation coaches but have been very beatable in other years.. jmo

Yeah cause they were really tearing it up before he got there. They had a long stretch of years of mediocrity. They're no different than any other major program. If they make a great hire when he goes then they'll be solid but maybe not to the degree they are now. Have a coach not quite cut it and don't immediately find a savior - can be right back to mediocrity

It's the nature of the sport. College basketball has more parity than ever and you have to win six games in a row at the end of the season to claim the title. It's interesting to see how many years the best team doesn't actually end up on top in the postseason. Under Cal, UK probably was the best 3 or 4 years. Instead we walk away with 1. Bama has been the best a number of years, and more often or not they play for the title and win.

I get your point but I only partially agree with you. It's easy to forget that Alabama spent a few years wandering in the wilderness of mediocrity before Saban came along. The thing is, they always come back because they have a commitment to championship football and won't accept anything less for very long.
