Retirement A Strong Possibility?????

Should've listened to Vicki and left after '98. I love Fulmer though and while I think a change needs to be made, I hope it goes over smoothly for someone who has been the face of UT for a long while

Fulmer definately deserves the respect of the UT nation. he does need to go, but i hope he leaves as a fallen hero and not in a bitter divorce. that "biggest loser" picture burns me pretty good. Alabama is going to get what they deserve, for playing with the devil, Nick Satan.

IMO I think that CPF will be privately asked to retire at the end of the Season. From his appearances and comments since he seems defeated as though doom and gloom is near.

DEER IN THE HEADLIGHT appearance. Would lead me to believe it has been discussed as a possibility.

we could only be so lucky

IMO Fulmer will be given the choice to retire or be fired. He will choose to retire. He might accept a position in the AD, maybe over recruiting, etc. Plus he could work as a TV analyst at ESPN, etc. He doesn't need to be so doom and gloom he has options.

I do not see CPF as an X and Os guy.

I do see him in the booth saying

"I do not understand why they don;t have Hardesty or Foster in the game or why have they abandoned the Run.

Boy is that a Mistake by the Coach.

After so much success the last two weeks and in the first Qtr of this game Why wouldn't they Run the Ball."

firing fulmer i think would be a bad move, it would be like Penn state firing Jo Pa or FSU firing Bobby Bowden. Retirement, will the best course of action. He may have lost his edge, but i think there is a lot that CPF could offer for a new coach as far as still being in the program.

Why would firing any of these 3 coaches be a bad move?

I will guarantee that he will not retire. Where else is he gonna make $2 Millon a year for the medicore job he does? He is gonna have to be forced kicking and screaming out the door like a little kid on the first day of kindergarden. Somebody needs to call a moving company and have them show up at his house, or stick a for sale by loser sign in his front yard.

When we are canabalizing our own, with litttle sign of respect:

Buisness is Buisness and it should have been discussed w/o his knowledge after the FL Game. The AL Game confirmed he was down and the Hardesty thing is Really upsetting for all of us.

Fulmer would not even think of retiring. The guy has his head in the sand and his ego would not let him leave on his own terms. It will take the administration pushing him out.

It invites trolls like this:

I will guarantee that he will not retire. Where else is he gonna make $2 Millon a year for the medicore job he does? I don't know that much about Tennessee football, but when I was tailgaiting Saturday with Slick Rick, he said that he didn't think Fulmer would just retire. Slick Rick said that that the A.D. would have to force him out. I hope this doesn't get ugly in Knoxville. Anyways, good luck this week against the Ole Ball coach.

I'm just sayin'...

Why would firing any of these 3 coaches be a bad move?

is what im sayin is that it may be a good move for winning but bad for the program, because bowden, and jo pa, and fulmer are entrenched in the program, i mean hell in kville there is a street named after the man. with a new coach its easy, but with a coach that is part of the program, its kind of hard for me to put into words really, do you see where im going with it though?

And he should be a big enough (and smart enough man) to know that this should be his last year. That is if he has any hopes for us to remember him fondly.

. . . but this is all old news and a rehash.

name a street after him

The Choice is in Fulmer's hand. Retire Gracefully or leave in a bloody nasty mess.

Before the start of the season, Fulmer was quoted in an article in the Tennessean that he wanted to coach another 6 to 8 years. IMO he's not going to retire because once he's out at UT, he's done professionally. I can't see him becoming a TV analyst or anything like that. Seems like all of this retirement talk on here is wishful thinking and hoping we can avoid Majors-like separation.
Can someone say DejaVu PAYBACKS ARE HELL!
