IMO I think that CPF will be privately asked to retire at the end of the Season. From his appearances and comments since he seems defeated as though doom and gloom is near.

DEER IN THE HEADLIGHT appearance. Would lead me to believe it has been discussed as a possibility.

Buisness is Buisness and it should have been discussed w/o his knowledge after the FL Game. The AL Game confirmed he was down and the Hardesty thing is Really upsetting for all of us.

Fulmer would not even think of retiring. The guy has his head in the sand and his ego would not let him leave on his own terms. It will take the administration pushing him out.

I missed Vol Calls tonight. But from what I saw on the local news Nashville He still look lost and broken.

I'm with you. The last few media appearances, interviews, and CPF Show has really showed him rather exhausted looking. Especially like he has lost his drive and clarity.

At his age and with how his career has fallen, I think this may be a real possibility that he should look at.

Before the start of the season, Fulmer was quoted in an article in the Tennessean that he wanted to coach another 6 to 8 years. IMO he's not going to retire because once he's out at UT, he's done professionally. I can't see him becoming a TV analyst or anything like that. Seems like all of this retirement talk on here is wishful thinking and hoping we can avoid Majors-like separation.

Vol Calls isn't taped, it's a radio show and Phil usually calls in from home or the office.

I've seen some coaches have a news conf on a Monday. They sometimes show it live on ESPN news or will show a clip of it on the local news sports.

I'm sure this has all been hard on him, and I actually feel sorry for him in a way. I noticed that between the first game, and especially after the Florida game, it looked as though he had aged a few years. Not that he isn't to blame for a lot of it, but he is a very good man, and I hate to see this happening to him knowing how much he loves the University. I wouldn't want his job. I would want the money, but not the job. Hopefully he will still step down at the end of the season, unless something drastic changes between now and then..(like we win the rest of our games!) That way he will go out with respect and dignity, and things won't get nasty.

Phillip has a Tuesday Presser that is shown live on CSS after Mark Richt's. But that's not what was said earlier. Someone said they "saw" Phillip on Vol Calls.... just seems confusing to me considering it's a radio show.

The other post said he MISSED Vol Calls but saw Fulmer on NASVILLE TV STATION news.

IMO Fulmer will be given the choice to retire or be fired. He will choose to retire. He might accept a position in the AD, maybe over recruiting, etc. Plus he could work as a TV analyst at ESPN, etc. He doesn't need to be so doom and gloom he has options.

firing fulmer i think would be a bad move, it would be like Penn state firing Jo Pa or FSU firing Bobby Bowden. Retirement, will the best course of action. He may have lost his edge, but i think there is a lot that CPF could offer for a new coach as far as still being in the program.

Have you ever seen the Fulmer show? I like Phillip, but I think there is 0% chance he becomes ANYONE'S studio analyst. Too bad his name isn't Dave, he could probably handle the LF telecast.

Ahhh Thanks. That makes much more sense.

I just watched Phillip's presser from earlier today. Nothing groundbreaking. He did mention that it was the position coach's job to rotate people into the game, and that the "problem has been corrected". He seemed very annoyed when discussing it. Seemed to still be angry with Roper.

I haven't been impressed with Roper this season. Hopefully it's one of the changes Phillip will make this offseason.

I would like to see Roper and Slade gone for sure. Maybe Caldwell or Luke in lieu of a Recruiting/Special Teams Coach and while I don't see it happening, I wouldn't cry if we had new coordinators on both sides of the ball. :salute:

Fulmer's TV charisma is nil. With the rest of the bozo's doing games, he may get a chance at it but I don't see it lasting too long. Plus I hope he doesn't contribute his experience to a new staff. The Tennessee football coaching staff needs a fresh start from top to bottom. I think Phil honestly believes all his "working darned hard to get better" talk and won't leave easily when the time comes.
