Respect

Not really. The level of support from him to Jones is quite different.
And as far as interviews go, I'm sure he refuses quite a few.

He had positive remarks in regards to both during interviews and showed up for Dooley's 3rd season thumping by Alabama (when anyone with sense knew he was done and on his way out) in Knoxville just as he did this year.

I was texting a buddy all during the game that's a hardcore Alabama fan. At the end of the game he said we/vols should be undefeated this year. I never thought I'd ever hear anything positive about tennessee come out of his mouth.

I've seen ZERO posts where people say this. If there are some I'd be very interested in seeing them.
I've seen people say they're proud of the effort of the team.

Nobody has actually said those words. But that is the tone a lot of people have. It's almost like we're not supposed to feel like we should win these games.

3 of the 4 teams that have beaten us are contenders for the playoffs. Not locks, but contenders. We had leads on all 3 late in the game. All 3 escaped with a win, and they know it.
And the really interesting thing is that the team that really beat us, is not on that list.

I guess it depends on your point of view. I read them as people are proud of the effort but hate the loss.
People who want to bash see what they want to see.

Yelling scoreboard is always easy and mostly correct. I just don't need somebody acting like they're telling me something new and philosophical. I know we have to win. I know moral victories don't count. That doesn't mean I ignore the obvious that happens within the game.

I agree with you, but why is it fully acceptable for those fans that are simply not content with progress to get slammed at every turn when they suggest that progress is not enough? I mean how unreasonable is it for a fan to expect more? Anyone says anything and the name calling starts.

We can all see the progress, the biggest difference for me is that I expected it. If we weren't progressing at some kind of acceptable rate It would be a problem. Am I the only one that expected we would and should see progress? CBJs not doing his job if we aren't. I just don't understand why this progress deal is all of a sudden a big deal. By most accounts from members here CBJ is an outstanding coach, didn't you expect the progress? Trust that he could/would get the job done?

My opinion we have progressed to the point that we should be no worse than 5-2. Don't blame me or it, blame the play on the field for my expectations (that's a good thing by the way).

I see the progress but expect more. What's wrong with that?

I'm sure he wanted to see kiffin and dooley succeed. They didn't. He wants to see Butch succeed as well. I think Butch has the best chance of the 3. I support him until he gives me reason not to.

No doubt.

Sunday-Friday, Jones does a fine job. Saturdays, he struggles.

Oh look, another go cheer for someone else guy. You worry about you. I'll take care of me.
You choose to be whiny and miserable. Talking to real Vols fans is infinitely more fun. You act like a 5 year old throwing a tantrum because you didn't get chocolate milk.

I'm proud to be a VOL fan, you on the other hand are obviously not.

You keep saying this. But I'd point you to any thread that's positive and you'll see the bashers bashing. I'd say the bashers hijack positive threads a helluva lot more than those positive about the program hijack the MANY bash the program threads.

Agree.

Name calling is of zero concern to me. If someone craves acceptance on a message board, they have much bigger issues in their life than UT's win/loss record.

Eh. That probably gets overplayed a lot, not just here. Coaches are pretty close to politicians in front of a camera.

Just an observation. I'll just say Jones seems to embrace the tradition more than kiffin and dooley did.

How's it going Beecher? You seeing yellow spots? haha.

Why put yourself through the misery of the "quote" button.

Throw in a "real fan" remark to boot.

You obviously have no idea who I am or what I am feeling. I have not been an ounce mad which is kinda necessary for a tantrum. I'm a proud alum and have been a fan of UT most likely longer than you.

So on the other, other hand, you are dead wrong.

Differing viewpoints does not equate to bashing. I love my kids. Am I "bashing" them if I'm not always positive with them?

He talks about them more and seems to be more involved with promoting them for sure. Some fans need those I suppose. Some like new manufactured ones. The main one is still alluding us right now.

Watching it rain right now. Need to be making that $.:hi:
