Fort Desoto beach if you want more of a secluded beach experience. It's a state park so there is nothing commercial on it, i believe it was voted best beach in the country not too long ago.
Clearwater Beach is the opposite, just did a major renovation of the whole area a few years ago. The north side of the beach is the nicer area IMO.
Restaurants, if we are talking CB, have to go to Frenchys Rockaway Grill, get the grouper sandwich and chill right on the beach. Salt Rock Grill is more of a formal setting but the food is awesome.
Pier 60 is another big attraction, great to see sunsets and stroll around.
If you can find it and it's tough, Tropix tiki bar, it's behind one of the big hotels. Seven dollar rum runners in this huge styrofoam cup. Two of those will have you feeling really good.Always liked sitting up on the patio at Skyway chili as well.
As for Tampa, if you are a big steak guy, got to try Bern's, just to warn you it's very pricey but worth every bite..
If you have a chance, i would check out downtown St Pete, it's more of the artsy part of the area. First Friday's are great, a big block party with lots of live music..
Damn, now im really homesick, anyways have fun...
