Has anyone had an opportunity to play this version of the PS1 game originally remade on the GameCube?

It is worth the $20 download if you appreciate proper Resident Evils/survival horror over the Michael Bay action of recent games in the series (RE5 & RE6).

I plan on downloading it. I'd say it's worth it just to be able to play it again

I never got to play this one before so I decided to get it. Still at the beginning unfortunately. People on twitch seem to enjoy hearing me freak out like a little girl though hahahaha!

It is worth it. I just beat the Jill campaign. I miss this type of Resident Evil. They don't make them like they used to.

Agreed. The RE series really sold out for more of an action-style game. There was nothing better than being all alone in a giant mansion/police station/science lab/etc. with 7 bullets in your gun trying to solve a puzzle to get you to the next room, meanwhile praying to God the big grey Tyrant guy wasn't about to come after you.

Supposedly RE7 is supposed to go back to the classic style but they claimed that with RE6.

The new Revelations game looks promising though.

The REmake is one of my favorite games of all time. It's the best true survival-horror game of all time, IMO.

As much as I loved RE 4, I hate that it essentially killed the survival-horror genre. Hopefully Capcom can bring the series back to its roots with limited ammo, inventory management, and TANK CONTROLS.

Lol I doubt tank controls will ever happen again. Everything else could make it great though. Personally I think The Last of Us was what Resident Evil should be today. Still extremely difficult, extremely tense, and very limited ammo.

Yeah, I'd maybe take an option of tank controls, that's the only part I'd leave out from the past. RE4 ruined it when I'd shoot a crow and they'd drop handgun ammo for me...

I just picked up The Last of Us, I'm intrigued.

Crows stay strapped. Shouldn't be a surprise.

Yeah I agree on RE4; while I loved it, it's not really much of an RE game to me. They could have easily had the 3rd person view and controls but kept the RE storyline and zombies and all.

I don't blame them for changing it up because while the RE remake was well received, RE Zero after it was not. I just wish they hadn't gone down the parasite road instead of sticking with the virus stuff. RE5 was ok but more of the same and other than part of Leon's campaign, RE6 is terrible.

Yeah, the parasite infested dudes who threw dynamite and hatchets at me weren't nearly as terrifying as the old T-Virus zombie hordes. Back when zombies weren't played to death, of course.

Capcom, SquareEnix (Final Fantasy 13), and Konami (3D Castlevanias) have all went away from their bread and butter trying to appease the lowest common denominator American gamer.

Silent Hill is owned by Konami.

I know, but it was a PS1 game. They don't often let their exclusives go. Probably why Final Fantasy 7 (owned by SquareEnix) will only be on PS4 this Spring and not Xbox One. I hope they remake it though, that would be awesome. Did you play the remastered SH 2 & 3?

They have no control over what Konami would do with a remastered version unless they offered them a ton of money to keep it exclusive, which is what they did with FF7. And even that will probably end up beign a "timed exclusive", meaning after about a year it will probably be released on the XBone. SH3 was a PS2 exclusive and it was released in the remastered series on the 360. And look at Resident Evil HD; the original was exclusively on the GameCube and then re-released on the Wii, and the Wii U is the only console that did NOT get it this gen.

I haven't played those remastered yet because I already own a PS2 copy of 2 and 3.

Considering the bonehead things Konami is doing lately, our only hope is likely them selling the franchise! Also, I hope FF7 is a timed exclusive. FF7 with achievements would be glorious.

That's why I doubt we'd see an original SH remastered. That would make too much sense.
