I've already bought both games twice; I bought the original RE4 on the GameCube and then the Wii port, and I bought the original Code Veronica on the Dreamcast and then the port on the PS2.

There's no way I'm picking these up unless they drop to like 400 MS Points. I've already watched one RE4 review on GameTrailiers and they pretty much said it's a lazy port.

I don't mind HD ports as long as they're done right. God of War HD ports are the example of the way it should be done. And I'm definitely going to pick up the FFX HD port for PS3, and maybe Vita. But I've not really been big on RE since the PSX days (altho I've heard some of the newer ones are really good).

The newer ones are good, however the series has turned into more action oriented than "survival horror" (which was just a marketing term Capcom made up anyway). I love RE4 and RE5 but they are clearly different from the original RE through RE:Zero.

Personally I prefer the older ones but I understand why they changed it up. By the time Zero came out, the formula was getting a bit stale (though REmake on the GameCube is awesome) and Zero's sales were pretty flat and the game got mediocre reviews. And I actually agree with it, I didn't think Zero was nearly as good as it could have been.

RE2 and REmake are probably my favorites, followed closely by RE4.

CV HD was released and is getting the same negative reviews; basically they are saying like RE4, it's basically a cheap port cash in.

They're definitely nostalgic at this point. I think if you were too young or not into games when they came out and go back and play them now, then you'd probably hate them. The "tank" controls are pretty bad, some of the games like CV have some awful voice acting.
