Reports circling regarding a draft of a potential Congressional bill on college sports

Fully deputize the Collegiate Sports Commission (or another entity) to enforce the settlement rules, such as requiring athletes disclose third-party name, image and likeness deals worth more than $600 and allow the prohibition of compensation that is not considered fair market value

That's fine if professional athletes are held to that same standard.
I don't think professional athletes have NIL

Sure they do. Try Peyton Manning and Papa John’s or about 10 other national brands that paid him. Or Patrick Mahomes and State Farm. Those commercials are nothing but Name, Image and Likeness and they have nothing to do with the team they play for. It’s not a sham like the vast majority of college NIL has been. College NIL ain’t nothing but pay for play.

They don't need it. Once they go pro, they no longer have the NCAA restricting their use of name image and likeness.

Some feel this undermines college football. In my not so humble opinion, the NCAA has been more of a deterrent to college sports than a stable governing influence. They are desperate to maintain control that has been slipping away for awhile. Instead of being populated by wise men, I think it is more a bunch of wise asses. I feel their time is past, and their offices become a macabre museum of incompetence.

I do not know what could replace it, but in time? If the world last long enough, and you get some folks less in love with the smell of their own flatulence, maybe they can get it right.

Many pro athletes have NIL. The classic example is Patrick Mahomes' and State Farm.

There are tons of others.

It's not a question of need. It's a question of what someone is willing to pay them for it.

It's completely separate from their NFL player contracts, and it doesn't affect their team's salary cap at all.

My word, I was only emphasizing that NFL players don't rely on NIL as they are paid a salary to play. I would be blind and deaf if I didn't realize Patrick Mahomes advertised for state farm and there are several more current and former players who do also.HOWEVER there are hundreds who never have or will.

Now please post for me the several hundred commercials SEC players appear in. They don't therefore NIL is ********, it's a salary period.

With revenue sharing starting next week, college athletes won't try solely in NIL
