Report: Walk-on Faison charged with DUI

Discipline... yes. Character... not sure you can fairly make that accusation.

Why not? It is a morally reprehensible act to drive a vehicle while impaired. As a father, I don't want my children killed because of ppl who are too selfish to call a cab after having one too many.

By the way, drunk driving kills other people, not just the drinker. To drive impaired shows an utter disrespect for others.

And I would say that whether they wear Blue and White or Orange and White.

Yes, it is an indicator of character.

I wasn't talking about Faison on a personal level. I don't know him... although I see he made a poor judgment last night.

I thought we were talking about the Tennessee progam in general and their lack of discipline.

well the guy is 26....I'm sure others have driven after a few beers at applebees, tgi fridays, etc and were on the legal line.

Doesn't make it okay... but I get your point, he is just a man.

Lets just hope Faison was smart enough to not be driving around a HS recruit.

Dude, it has nothing to do with Kentucky or running a clean program, but it does have everything to do with discipline and character.

At this point, you can blame it on crooked cops, transgressions of youth, boys will be boys, etc.

But let's face it. There is a problem in Knoxville.
The 1977 Wildcats finished 10-1, including a win at #4 Penn State and an undefeated record in the SEC. The 1977 squad did not go to a bowl game due to NCAA sanctions, but finished the season ranked #6 in the final Associated Press poll.
Curci's tenure as Kentucky's coach ended after problems continued to erupt in the program, including NCAA sanctions that were imposed for recruiting violations.

No way CPF puts a recruit with a man that he barely knows and has only been on the team for a couple weeks.

Kelly Washington was older and a baseball signee out of HS. All of us would have been happy to have Faison had he opted to sign to play footfall rather than baseball out of HS.

What has me concerned is this.....we have a lot of months till football season and the way things are going we are going to run out of players.

and he's still a child at 27yo?

More like a man (ex-Major Leaguer at that) among co-eds... that's gonna be his challenge, and rightfully so. Just get a place close enough to walk to the strip. Simple solution.

where are all the posters who blame this on the overzealous police?

No felonies yet? No one is off the team. Just extra conditioning so far.

Thats right. I'm sure this is just another case of the KPD riding around looking for UT football players. All of you guys that keep saying "it's no big deal" do you still feel that way? I sure hope not. As a UT fan and proud Tennesseean, this crap is much more embarrassing to me than getting blown out by Florida and Alabama. This is freakin ridiculous.

A DUI is a helluva lot different than waving your arms above your head.

This is stupid on Fiason's part.

My point was this more than selective policing. Some guys (maybe gals) on here were suggesting that local officers were seeking out football players.

I suggested the large majority of the KPD sucked, but I never said they singled out football players

The off-season thus far has been about as comical as Fulmer's coaching.

Cutcliffe and Taylor leave and out goes the discipline. Teddy bear Fulmer will work like heck to get it under control. At this pace near every player wil have gotten into trouble by the time the season gets here.

Walk-Ons get two games out, if you're a schloarship player you just do police ride alongs when you have a run-in with the law. If you're a starter you get five chances then you have to run...

would be hard to say the KPD thought a 27yo guy was a fball player

now finish by saying... that the KPD officer knew that some guys riding in a car with a burned out tag light (a VALID Tennessee Code Annotated law) were smoking weed.

The DUI charge against Ravens QB Steve McNair that took place on May 9th was dropped on Tuesday, as the charge against his brother-in-law was reduced to reckless driving. McNair was just a passenger in his brothers pickup truck when it was pulled over, but McNair was charged becuase he allowed his brother to drive the vehicle. Jamie Cartwright, the brother-in-law, refused to take a breath test and was charged with drunken driving.
He will serve two days in jail and pay a $350 fine. “It’s good. I’m glad it’s over,” McNair said. McNair was arrested on DUI charges once before in Nashville in 2003, when he also was charged with illegal gun possession. But a judge dismissed those charges a year later, ruling police didn’t have sufficient reason to pull over McNair.
I know Steve was no angel, but it does happen. I recall that one of the officers made remarks as to "I got McNair" or "There goes McNair". The judge must have thought something.

To go further into detail about the Paige and Jones thing, Paige's car is brand new and on 22's.

In some people's minds, it's a little suspicious that they got pulled over while driving that car.

Had they been in an old beater, some would claim, they wouldn't have been pulled over.

I don't think racial profiling was the case, but if you wanted to make an arguement that it was, you'd have a somewhat believable story.
