Not defeatist at all just a fact because we aren't going to beat Alabama under any circumstances and that is a fact.

First you never know we lose (slim chance I agree)

Second that is not the point, that is what would be called chicken ....!!!!

I hope this injury isn't serious, but it could end up being a good thing for us. Griffin came in and immediately made a play and some have said Griffin is one of the better athletes on the team. This could set up a move for TK to go to OLB since he has looked at step slower this year. As for Warrior, doesn't he play more of a free safety position and not the strong safety position that Kelly does? I thought Abernathy, Warrior, and Berry all played FS?

Okay, so this is somewhat unrelated but.. with all of these injuries and for the shear fact that no one is as good as Alabama, I sure hope we don't make to the SECCG. I cannot handle seeing our Vols who have worked so hard to keep this season on the rails get hammered and out-talented. I'd rather go into a bowl game with a chance at a 10-3 record. Sure it would be nice to be called SEC East Champs but with how the East has been getting a bad rep for sucking, I don't know if it's worth it. Don't get me wrong, I will be proud of my Vols regardless!

Go Vols!

Fair point in you made in the 1st 3 sentences.

Did not read the rest. To lazy today.

Get better soon TKj.

Who said it worst? The last thing we want is to win the East. With all the losing going on in the top 5, let's win out and get the help we need with Florida and see what we can pull off in Atlanta.

What will it take to get the Vols into the playoffs at 10-3, after beating Bama in the SECCG? Who else needs to lose?

Plan D all the way to Tampa.

Do you guys seriously believe UT has had above average injury rates for 3 consecutive years because of "bad luck"?

We probably don't have enough info as fans to pinpoint the reason.... but 3 years isn't "luck"... it is a PATTERN.

Could be S&C. Could be techniques. Could be bad recruit profile. Could be poor player rotation. Could be several things.... fortunately UT pays someone several million $ to be responsible for figuring it out.

I'm certain it will continue next year

Plan D all the way to Tampa.

To make the playoff we need the same type of chaos that happened last week to happen this week, the following week, and on championship weekend.

We would first need to beat Alabama (which is a tall task in and of itself). Then we need 2 other conferences to have 3-loss champs (so we can jump ahead of them). And then we need 1-loss non-champs like Louisville to catch a second loss.

A scenario like this could get into the playoff:

Big 10
SCENARIO: Michigan or Ohio State beats Wisconsin in the Big 10 Championship game.

1. Ohio State/Michigan (12-1) - 1-loss Big 10 champ = they're in
2. Wisconsin (10-3) - 3-losses plus no conference title = they're out
3. Michigan/Ohio State (10-2) - 2-losses plus no conference title = they're out

ACC
SCENARIO: Va-Tech beats Clemson in the ACC Championship game. Louisville loses to Houston or Kentucky

1. Va-Tech (10-3) - ACC Champ but we get in over them because of head to head
2. Clemson (11-2) 2-losses and they lose the conference championship game = they're out
3. Louisville (10-2) 2-losses and no conference title = they're out

Pac 12
SCENARIO: Washington State loses at Colorado this week, beats Washington the following week, and then beats Colorado in a rematch during the Pac-12 championship game.

1. Washington State (10-3) - lost to FCS team week 1, they're out, we get in over then due to strength of schedule
2. Colorado (10-3) - 3-loss team plus no conference title = they're out
3. Washington (10-2) - 2-loss team plus no conference title = they're out

Big 12
SCENARIO: Oklahoma wins out. They're in as the 10-2 conference champ.

In this scenario the playoff would be:

1. Ohio State/Michigan (12-1) - Big 10 Champ
2. Alabama (12-1) - no conference title
3. Oklahoma (10-2) - Big 12 Champ
4. Tennessee (10-3) - SEC Champ

We could also have Oklahoma lose a game but still win the Big 12 at 9-3. That would knock the Big 12 out of the playoff. And then we wouldn't need Louisville to lose another game OR we wouldn't need the Pac-12 or ACC Champ to have 3 losses.

All in all there are several scenarios where we could make the playoff but they require A LOT OF HELP.

It is when you have a strength and conditioning program that isn't worth a sh!t.

It's not that simple but I can't argue the S&C program needs another revamp (didn't we just fire someone last year?)

A lot of these injuries wouldn't have been prevented by S&C. Ankle's get rolled on and once sprained take a long time to heal. Maybin's shoulder was already a concern and legs/knees on a DT are at risk every play.

If anything I would point toward technique. You could argue that some of these injuries happened due to questionable form or trying to tackle slightly out of position.

Bottom line is as you lose people and starters take more reps they wear out no matter how good of shape they are in. We are into our three deep on the line and then some....
