That's basically who we were without in the first matchup with them. Trade Tuttle for Kirkland. And make no mistake, Kirkland would've been huge in that game against a mobile QB.
During the players meeting Hurd shot off about transferring out of UT and several other players told him to get out now, not to wait. Word got back to Butch what Hurd said and that a lot of players didn't want JH on the team if he was transferring at the end of the year anyway. Once JH confirmed to CBJ that was what was said, Jones had no choice but to let JH "quit" at mid season.
Fire away but that's the report I got...

The attitude isn't really new with Hurd. He works hard and gave full effort when he was on the field...but he just wasn't ever a big team guy.Not that he was extremely selfish, but more of a loner type. Butch sold him on starting as a freshman and being THE star that brought Tennessee back. Butch stuck with that even when others on the team thought Kamara was better (and Kelly this season). There was some ill feelings towards Butch about playing favorite to a guy who had an attitude. Wasn't a situation that dominated the team's mindset, but one that shows up more when things are going wrong. Wish the best to Hurd, but this is addition by subtraction. I think it helps the team's mindset on offense (especially with Kelly getting more carries...the team loves that guy) and helps their mindset towards Butch. Not naming sources...believe it or not...whatever you want.
If this is how it played out, then good on the team. He quit on his mates during the Carolina game and pulled himself out. Show him the door. But who the hell knows what is going on at this point.
It's very telling that Hurd wasn't chosen by his teammates as one of the Team Captains before the season. They chose the second term RB ( Kamara) Obviously Hurds teammates didn't think very highly of him
Man, I'd pay to see that.
Imagine if volnation got a hold of a video of that.
Perhaps Hurd recognized the failing system like was stated in the post. The same issues many here have complained about for the last few years. I've just learned to shut up for the most part because it's terrible for anyone to say so. Just because you don't like to hear something doesn't mean it's not true, and refusing to listen/ or shutting down the oppositions voice doesn't make the problem go away
who is this Bain fellow anyway? (The thread title that started it all)
Seriously, JH and Bain got into it? That's pretty juicy.
