During the players meeting Hurd shot off about transferring out of UT and several other players told him to get out now, not to wait. Word got back to Butch what Hurd said and that a lot of players didn't want JH on the team if he was transferring at the end of the year anyway. Once JH confirmed to CBJ that was what was said, Jones had no choice but to let JH "quit" at mid season.

Fire away but that's the report I got...

The kids looked at him as a quitter. They say get the hell out if he doesn't want to be here.

I'm wondering if Hurd watched the A&M game and thought, wow record performance when I don't play.

The guy sounds a little selfish no doubt and I hate quittees, but if Butch really screwed him over bylying about changing the scheme andJalen thought the offense was crap when he was in, I can't blame him for wanting out. Not sure why he would transfer at the end of the year why not just declare for the draft?

If this is how it played out, then good on the team. He quit on his mates during the Carolina game and pulled himself out. Show him the door. But who the hell knows what is going on at this point.

Fingers already said it earlier. They were already done with him, not one teammate congratulated him after his TD against SC.

Just my opinion but I think the team called the meeting to call Hurd out and told him to GTFO.

Not tennis or golf and no i in team.

Before you tar and feather JH- remember he had a bad concussion which can cause depression and poor impulse control. All of this scheiss does hurt the Brand- no question. Lets all move on- cant change the past.

What are the chances all of this about Hurd started when he dropped that nonchalant TD pass against UGA? I think the players may have looked at him differently since then.

Even picking on him & saying he was a coward or something acting like he did when trying to catch that ball. This is maybe where it really started for Hurd. If so, that's not really fair to him.

He made a mistake by acting that way trying to make a catch but it wasn't that bad & didn't cost us the game. I still call him a quitter but we don't know how the team & coaches have been treating him since that game.

Just saw Finebaum say CBJ Had not had good stewardship of this team. There has been a problem all season with this team not motivated to play and that has to be the fault of the coaching staff.

alot of commonality in player responses...smoke = fire. We've got to assume Butch has control on this, and may help the team focus. If Butch doesn't have control of situation, it will show soon enough. I'm actually thinking getting distractions out of the way will unify the team to finish strong. Granted, coaches have to look themselves in the mirror, but Dobbs needs to be the senior captain leader and step up his play on the field and leadership of the team.

Sounds like he can't handle constructive criticism and needs to grow up.

All i know is even with 10 bad apples we shouldve beat freaking USCe. The focus should still be on Butchs failure as a coach, not Hurd transferring. JMO

If you can point to other cases of players who had concussions and abruptly quit the team I might not laugh so hard.

You can't say that. You or nobody but the football team & coaches know how Hurd has been treated since that game.

You can't just say it was constructive criticism. It could be far far worse for all we know & it may have kept going on & on too.

Watched the replay of TD. Something definatly going on. Hurd not excited and very few acknowledge him on sidelines after. Sat alone on bench after. Showed little interest in game.

I agree with you in a thread about USCe game.

In a thread about why J. Hurd is transferring B.S.

Not one player congratulating him after the TD is exceptionally telling. If this report is true lets rightfully so let it get out.

Butch has enough 'failures' to overcome.

Lets not blame Butch, and allow this to impact recruiting if it's true.

Butch is ultimately responsible for everything. Responsible doesn't always mean at fault or to blame. Maybe J. Hurd alienated the whole team through selfishness and Butch took responsibility in letting him go.
