So the players wear their jerseys when they go to the bar?

That's what I was told. Makes it easier to pick them out In a line up.

If your a security guard licensed through the state of TN you can detain someone... Not sure if he is or is not... Anyone can do a citizens arrest though. But on the other side of that the person could also file kidnapping/false imprisonment charges if they are wrongly accused.

If they dont show a badge of some sort how many of you would stop? I wouldnt.

Citizen's arrest is code for I need my ass whipped.

They had no reason to be in a bar !!! If they had of been where they should have been , guess what ?? They acted like a buch of punks , . Again while in HS they got away with doing what they wanted too. This is a waste of my tax dollars to have them going to school if they do not know how to act. Dooley better do what the last two coaches failed to do get control of this team . Or Vandy will beat us again !! Just a group of pac man wanta be's

Guy on the right --> thegrower
Guy on the left ---> the English language

This is so out of hand. I just don't care anymore... As for as I can tell, it is just a bar fight that got out of hand. Everyone, except those who beat the cop, should be free to go. Those, or the person, who beat the cop should be kicked off the team. Easy as that... let's move on.

And as far as this Cox dude.

If hes not a Cop he has absolutely no right to put his hands on Da'Rick or anyone and try to stop them from walking away. That in itself is assault.

True.

And this is the first I'd heard of pepper spray being involved. That in itself puts a whole new twist on the thing. If 8 guys jump one little defenseless guy then you might have a case of an inexcusable "gang beating" like some have suggested. If the guy was spraying guys with pepper spray then that explains why the others would jump him. It also turns an alleged "victim" into at least a contributor to the escalation.

Like most of you, I really enjoy watching UT football. But, I will say this, regardless of who gets suspended, goes to jail, or dismissed its going to be hard to watch the first few games.

Also, like most of you, I've been to the strip to have a good time. The guys you see that fight at bars are always the loud mouth thugs. They are there looking for a fight, looking to bump into people, looking around the bar see if someone is looking at them, basically anti-social degenerates. I can't stand them! You see them at every bar on the strip, people that don't belong in social settings, getting so drunk they think they fit in by being tough, loud, and aggressive.

Regardless of the details of this story, its safe to say everyone mentioned in this altercation is that type of person. For 7-10 football players to jump one 5' 8" person is sickening. Even if Russel started it, do you not think Hughes could of easily finished by himself? Surely. But they were all there, ready to thug it up. Its going to be hard to root for the team when you know 10-15% of them are the people you despise!

So if you saw a man take an old womans purse you wouldn't run after the man and try and stop him for fear of being charged with assault? Please...

Cox was obviously in the process of a citizen's arrest.

I don't know why, but this post made me think of Barney Fife and the Andy Griffen show... I can see him and Floyd the barber in my mind saying this...

"CITIZEN'S ARREST!.....CITIZEN'S ARREST!... CITIZEN'S ARREST!..Freeze and Don't move buster..."

:eek:lol: I thought the same thing, we might be showing our age.

If he didnt identify himself, nor show any type badge, he has 0 right to put his hands on anyone.

Citizens arrest is so over blown. You cant detain anyone against their will not matter what. Citizens arrest in other words is, wait for the Police and tell them you want to press charges on the individual, not grab them and force them to stay anywhere.

Dude is lucky he just got shoved and not worse. In the same situation 90% of the people here, walking away from this type incident and getting grabbed by someone you dont know, would do the same damn thing if not more.

how many players is govols.com going to report were at fault? Two days ago it was King and Walls, yesterday it was Nelson, today it is Da'Rick. Who's next?

10:1 it's Palardy:)

If you go by the book, you very well could get charged with assault, but thats no where near the same situation.

You can put any kind of spin on this you want but Cox had no right whatsoever to put hands on Da'Rick.

Nah, because Palardy would have done some serious damage with that leg if he had been Kicking dude on the ground...

Look, everyone in that bar at 2:00 am on a thursday night were probably hammered!!!!! So gettin to the bottom of who hit who or why will never be known. Drunken witnesses are a defense attorneys dream, stories are pouring out of that bar like oil into the gulf. The players were probably the only ones sober (at least the lovely Bar Knoxville better hope so) and according to them that fat SOB Russell took the first swing after he and Montori bumped into each and had words. Believe who you want, there were many bad choices made. Mix 18 year old athletes with Drinking adults at 2:00 am and it will end bad every freaking time. I'm not taking the players side in this, but looking at Russell makes me want to hit him, some kind of fatazz Eminem. Just a terrible place for students athletes to be, if Coach Dooley is given time he will change the mindset up there. V,B!

What if the players just came over to back up their guy and someone started spraying them indiscriminately with pepper spray? I kind of wondered the same thing you ask here until this article mentioned pepper spray.

That changes the whole balance of blame. It is like throwing water on a grease fire then complaining because your kitchen caught on fire.

The thing outside is a different matter but it is sounding more and more like no one will or even should get hammered for what happened inside.

Get a clue.

The story has more holes in it than Sonny Corleone at the toll booth.
