Report: Austin Thomas not coming to UT. Staying at LSU

This is getting Gruden-like.

My buddy in Knoxville has gotten to know Brice really well in a basketball league over the years and they talk quiet a bit. Brice is very close to Austin so he asked him about it and that’s what he said. I could just keep quiet or pass along what I hear on an anonymous message board. Doesn’t matter. Merry Christmas!

Just to verify legitimacy. Did you at any time have a Gruden source?

Does he coach anything? No
Apparently wanted to be Pruitt's boss?
What's his appeal? Sounds like a bagman to me.

Volnation, let Pruitt and Fulmer do their jobs. I remember when Dooley was hired and the fan base was screaming for a certain VFL for defensive line coach. We know how that worked out.

Pruitt's boss... that would be a show stopper for sure. Phil has that role in spades. Time to move on.

Check my stats. Soon. 😁

Hubbs and Price are both reporting that there is definitely an issue but not willing to call the deal dead yet.

Speculation the sticking point is over control and title. And I would never place blame here.
Thomas, understandably, doesn't want what appears a demotion and all coaches want more control over their own program now.

The problem here is pretty simple. College head coaches are control freaks. The GM position actually runs the football program while the Coach runs the team. Which isn’t bad because it takes a lot of responsibility off of the coaches plate so all the coach has to do is coach and recruit.

I think adding a GM adds structure and oversight. An extra level of checks and balances. At a huge program with as much money as we have. That’s necessary but people barely want New Jersey’s so i don’t expect them to think ahead with something as big as this.

Seems like the issue lies with Austin's relationship to Pruitt as the head coach. Separate the relationship and likely a deal can be made.

I had multiple sources. I’m very connected. I own a brother of Smokey. 1 yr old blue tick named Knox. He and Smokey talk often.

Lol. I actually do own one of Smokey’s brothers. Thats him in my profile pic. Such a sweet boy. Although they don’t get to talk as much as they’d like. Lol

Then you are definitely the most credible source on this board. What’s his name?

That’s very cool. Are those dogs pretty well behaved? I would love to have one. I have heard they can be temperamental.

Who gives a F* about this guy, do you all just look for negativity to complain about? How about the elite SEC coaches we have hired in the last few weeks..
