Repeat after me:

I will. And we will block the hire like we did Schiano.

Sad state that you really think your redneck tantrums is going to do anything. Fulmer isn't going to give a damn about your childish protest. All he cares about is making the best hire he can and this university.

So withhold supprt, and hit social media with tantrums until he proves it?

You see if he "proves" it to you and earns your trust he will never have another hire due to his age. It's now or never for Fulmer with some of you guys that think you know better.

I haven't thrown one tantrum or said anything about CPF on social media outside of VN. And the only thing I have said about him conducting the search is that I'm anxiously optimistic.

In other words CPF should have the gravitas and experience to attract a top tier coach, I just have my doubts that he will.

A number of people have said they will protest a number of the candidates mentioned in this thread if they are hired. That does nothing but make this fan base look even worse and the new coaches job even harder.

Sure I have opinions. I don't want Steele, Leach and some others but if Fulmer says they are the best for the job I will put my opinions aside and support that coach as if I loved the hire all along. That's what real fans do.

I will support almost anyone CPF hires until I no longer have reason to. But you are wrong about blind loyalty, real fans want those in charge to be as dedicated to winning as the fans are. So if he hires another loser, no I will not "love" the hire just because CPF made it.

Plenty fair.

I am not sure CPF can overcome the perception of this place right now to hire a top tier guy. I think a Morris would take the Arkansas job over us.

I mean like Fulmer has never been an AD before. I have great respect for the guy. But I think even he is aware that this hire will crucial for how he is seen as a long standing AD

Being a sports AD aint rocket science Waldo. Many of the best ADs were prior coaches.

That isn't the fault of the fans, that is the fault of the powers in charge. The fans simply had had enough when Shiano's name was leaked and acted accordingly.

If you've been a fan since well before Fulmer was our head coach, you know how he operates. I'm sure he is well intended, but he's going to hire bottom tier and the laughing stock will continue. Keep in mind this is crow I really want to eat, but I'm not gonna have to.

As a 1977 grad and season ticket holder (Section V) since 1980, I probably qualify for more than just a fan. With that said, I recognize every posters opinion is well intentioned but I haven't seen any poster yet who I would trust to make this decision. Their opinions are for entertainment purposes only.

I think it's more about the powers at be but the fans own some of this and it was before schinao. Emptyneyland was a terrible look.

I agree, empty Neyland was pathetic. But, it should have registered with Currie and Davenport that the fan-base was fed up with mediocre. Obviously it didn't.

I don't trust him to make the hire. I hope I'm wrong but there are reasons UT wanted to distance themselves from him.
Plus the main reason is all his assistants he hired, not one was good not one.
He will hire someone he perceives to be a "Tennessee guy" disregarding the record they hold as a coach

Yes, you are wrong. I prefer to think such words came from uneducated youth. Read what you wrote then think about it.

But here...

Tennessee Football Assistants Who Are Now Head Coaches

and here:

Over 204 games over seventeen years Fulmer was two games shy of a 0.75 winning %.

Every one of those 17 years he started off with a pre season AP ranking, and was ranked during the season. Only 4 seasons did he finish unranked.

No coach, anywhere, at anytime has lasted SEVENTEEN YEARS making bad hires for assistants.

In fact almost ALL Fulmer's hires were excellent.

That's easy. Fulmer knows way more than me and I am not afraid to admit it.

This board makes it fun to come on here and us unknowledgeabke fans to act like we know football. Nothing wrong with that but when it comes to supporting a new coach we need to realize our own ignorance.

If it was that "easy" your opinion today would be whoever Fulmer can sign without the addition of "I don't like A, B or C".

There are more steps to hiring a good coach than just being able to identify one.

Dude, you need to read the article you linked, 2 guys from CPFs tree were on the list.

I understand not trusting a nerd that never played or coached like Currie but this man lived it.

Trust him damn it.

No

and I'll tell ya why, I don't personally know Phil, so I won't blindly trust someone I don't really know.

If you want to that's fine.

But just cause he was a coach doesn't mean he'd be good at picking a new head coach.

So let's just wait and see what happens

Pfffffffffffft actual empty stadiums like the ones at FSU and Miami were far worse looks than our failed attempt at a boycott.

Have you seen Miami and FSU stadium capacity when they suck? They're a whole lot more empty than our's was.

Doak Campbell Stadium Is About As Empty As You’d Expect Today

But yet both schools got who they wanted, well I should say FSU is about to get who they want, while we're still waiting around for Phil to pick someone that will probably be about as exciting as paint drying.

Yep, he's Mr. Conservative alright.....run, run, pass

I find it strange how some people think because someone has had success doing one job, it automatically makes them successful at another.

Granted, some people have that knack, but they are rare.

At this point in the coaching search, everyone should have adopted the Stone Cold Steve Austin philosophy: Don't Trust Anyone.
