Don't like the idea of the executive having this much power

But

Congress is useless

I don’t know, we as a republic survived 200 years without the 1974 law. We also never witnessed out of control deficits until it was passed. So maybe repealing it isn’t such a bad idea since the POTUS still can’t spend more than congress authorized, he can only refuse to spend what was authorized.

Agreed. But I'm very cautious

We should try something new. Or go back to something old that once worked, but has since been abandoned.

What we’re doing now is not working.
I believe it is the only way DOGE can do anything. Congress largess with pork could be cut significantly. As Hogg pointed out, can’t spend more than apportioned but it can definitely spend less.

Its just going to turn into the same issues that sink Congress.

Every dollar will get politicized. Sacred cows will get protected. Deals will be made to spend X dollars here for Y dollars there.

Its great and all until the other party is in control and can cut something you like. keep the powers where they are. this is just kicking the can down the road to someone to kick around. better to make them actually do the job.
