It was mentioned in the recruiting forum. Great news for the Vols though.

If we add Elliot Williams on Nov. 2 this will be an amazing class. Heck, even if we miss on EW and end up with Jurric, Woolridge, and E. Jones it would be a great class.

Trivia question:

Who is the only basketball player to ever play on NBA teams with Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson and Isaiah Thomas?.....and still never won a championship ring.

wonder what the resident roundball expert, Hat, thinks about this commitment?

I know it was easy given that this thread topic is about his son but ask that question to someone out of the blue and see if they know it......Must have been incredibly frustrating to join the Lakers in '89 just after they had won two straight titles and then the Pistons in '92 just after they had won two straight titles and not get a ring..... Woolridge was the most muscular player of his day - even more so than Karl Malone.....Don't think his son takes after him in that regard.

There are no two ways about it. The recruitment and verbal commitment from Woolridge is very impressive. Beat out top flight schools for a recruit from California.

He'll be a decent SEC player. He is apparently still growing, which means he may have an even larger upside. I'll put it this way, if he's one of the three best players on your team, you'll have a tough time finishing above .500 in the SEC. However, if he's a rotation player and a peripheral scorer, you've got a really good team.

Another upside to Woolridge is his close relationship to top recruits Elliot Williams and Chris Singleton. Hopefully he can help bring the other two guys and along with Jurick would make this a great class.

Hat, have you seen a significant amount of tape on Woolridge or is that based on your conversations with people who have seen him play? I have seen very little footage myself.

A little of both. I saw him play last summer, but everyone tells me he's vastly improved. However, I don't think any of the schools recruiting him considered him a primary target. That tells me they see him as a cog, not an engine unto himself.

The pearl effect. Decent player or not its someone we wouldn't even be in the conversation with without pearl. Pearl is filling up the depth chart with quality players. UT mens hoops will be good for sometime now, thank you bruce.

OMG! Can this be true? A top notch recruit from California picking Tennessee. Surely Fulmer must have had something to do with this because everyone knows he is the only man alive who can recruit nationally at UT. No way this happens without the magic of Phil.

Ronaldo was interviewed by the Sports Animal yesterday at around 5:00. He is a very articulate and well spoken kid. It was a very good interview.

Pearl gets a recruit to commit, and it turns into a Fire Fulmer thread.

So true, Pearl is great. As I yell during the games that is my Jew. I think Fulmer is pretty good as well. Just remember no one ever thought Fulmer was a great XO coach but we were so happy to be becoming elite now we are spoiled and want it all. Well, I have no idea how this all plays out but Pearl is the man please let him stay for a long time.

Almost everyone I've talked to says he gets better and better everytime they see him. Pepperdine, Arizona State, Marquette, Illinois, and even Georgetown really wanted him. JTIII was really intrigued with his upside. Renaldo is just now coming into his game due to his growth spurt over the last two years. With his length, athleticism, handle and perimeter shot, I think he could develop into a pretty nice player in the SEC. He would have been a more coveted prospect if he played more physical and penetrated more offensively.

from what I'm hearing from Hat and stunna, his best days are ahead of him. Pearl strikes me as a coach that will get the max out of a player's ability. it's taking every ounce of my willpower to not make a Phil reference right now.

Any coach who takes the Ryan Childress I saw as a freshman and turns him into an SEC level contibutor has my full confidence.
