Remember when Bowl games used to be easy to guess matchups?

As a kid, I remember Johnny had us "back" in 1979 with Jimmy Streater in the Blue Bonnet bowl... Majors ultimately built us up, but no way he'd have been given 6 years in today's CFB.

The 1982 team was the most talented 6-5-1 ever, but they did beat Alabama in Bear's last year.

Would love to see Vandy in the Duke Bowl and when they win have Pavia receive the 'Duke Dump' instead of Lea.

FYI Here is my current guess for Playoffs/Bowls: (which of course will change next week by a lot likely)

Playoffs:

1 Ohio St (13-0)
2 Alabama (12-1)
3 Indiana (12-1)
4 Texas A&M (12-1)
5. Georgia (11-1)
6. Texas Tech (12-1)
7. Ole Miss (11-1)
8. Notre Dame (10-2)
9. Georgia Tech (11-2)
10. Oregon (10-2)
11. USC (10-2)
12 North Texas (12-1)

(9) Georgia Tech at (8) Notre Dame
(12) North Texas vs (5) Georgia
(11) USC vs (6) Texas Tech
(10) Oregon vs. (7) Ole Miss

Georgia Tech vs. Ohio St - Rose
Georgia vs. Texas A&M - Cotton
USC vs. Indiana - Orange
Ole Miss vs. Alabama - Sugar

Ohio St vs. Georgia - Fiesta
USC vs. Alabama - Peach

Georgia vs. Alabama - Miami (NC Game)

Other Bowls SEC guesses only:
Citrus - Tennessee (9-3) vs. Michigan (9-3)
Reliaquest - Oklahoma (9-3) vs. Iowa (8-4)
Gator - Texas (8-4) vs. Miami (9-3)
Dukes Mayo - Vanderbilt (9-3) vs. Louisville (8-4)
Music City - Missouri (8-4) vs. Illinois (8-4)
Texas - LSU (7-5) vs. Utah (10-2)
Liberty - Kentucky (6-6) vs. Houston (9-3)
If we can't make the playoffs, the Citrus vs Michigan is the next best option. USC would also be cool if they miss the playoffs. I also would not mind playing Miami, but I sort of think Miami wins out and sneaks into the playoffs.

But I really don't want to play mediocre Iowa again. Or Illinois. Or Pitt.

who gives a sh!t. I don't care who we play in the meaningless.com Irrelevant Bowl.

it would probably be better if we played a terrible team and then get beat as a wakeup call to some of our fans what danger we are in with our current program.

I'm old enough to remember when there were only 4 (or 4.5) Bowls that mattered (Rose, Sugar, Cotton and Orange. The half was the Gator. If you were relegated to the Gator, it wasn't a great season, but at least you were in a Bowl. Then, the madness started with all these other Bowls (Liberty, Bluebonnet, Fiesta, etc). New Years Day was awesome for Bowl watching.

In the 1970s you had to be a top 20 team to make a bowl. I remember being stoked about watching the Gator, Sun, Bluebonnet, Liberty bowls because they always had great matchups. If you made one of the 4 major bowls, you actually had a shot at a NC
Yep...And New Years Day was the mecca of college football.

What's a bowl game?
Hey Gator, rumor has it UF is going after Lincoln Riley. How you feel about that? He hasn’t done much at OU or USC and USC is in fertile recruiting grounds. Big name though.
