I remember when there were split NCs based on the writers and coaches opinions.
Favorites in the polls always got the nod because of history or yea players on certain teams.
Even in todays world going 13-0 may not even get you into the old CFP
College lite vs College ball vs NFL Lite which is where we are going without divisions and a 16 team playoff.
All to date being determine by at least ADs/Ex coaches/sports/ex players writer of which some are geographically bias.
Who is going to fix this? SEC has two ADs on the committee, Mississippi and Arkansas.

FYI Here is my current guess for Playoffs/Bowls: (which of course will change next week by a lot likely)

Playoffs:

1 Ohio St (13-0)
2 Alabama (12-1)
3 Indiana (12-1)
4 Texas A&M (12-1)
5. Georgia (11-1)
6. Texas Tech (12-1)
7. Ole Miss (11-1)
8. Notre Dame (10-2)
9. Georgia Tech (11-2)
10. Oregon (10-2)
11. USC (10-2)
12 North Texas (12-1)

(9) Georgia Tech at (8) Notre Dame
(12) North Texas vs (5) Georgia
(11) USC vs (6) Texas Tech
(10) Oregon vs. (7) Ole Miss

Georgia Tech vs. Ohio St - Rose
Georgia vs. Texas A&M - Cotton
USC vs. Indiana - Orange
Ole Miss vs. Alabama - Sugar

Ohio St vs. Georgia - Fiesta
USC vs. Alabama - Peach

Georgia vs. Alabama - Miami (NC Game)

Other Bowls SEC guesses only:
Citrus - Tennessee (9-3) vs. Michigan (9-3)
Reliaquest - Oklahoma (9-3) vs. Iowa (8-4)
Gator - Texas (8-4) vs. Miami (9-3)
Dukes Mayo - Vanderbilt (9-3) vs. Louisville (8-4)
Music City - Missouri (8-4) vs. Illinois (8-4)
Texas - LSU (7-5) vs. Utah (10-2)
Liberty - Kentucky (6-6) vs. Houston (9-3)

I miss those days.

1970 - mid 90's were the best of college football.

and it's not close.
In the 1970s you had to be a top 20 team to make a bowl. I remember being stoked about watching the Gator, Sun, Bluebonnet, Liberty bowls because they always had great matchups. If you made one of the 4 major bowls, you actually had a shot at a NC

My dad and I went to every Liberty Bowl game from 1976-1986......it was one of my Christmas presents and living in Jackson, Tn it was easy.

Saw some amazing games and some star players........fun times

Bear's last game
"Catholic Bowl" (NDvsBC and Doug Flutie)
Bo Jackson
Kellen Winslow Sr
Charles Alexander
Art Schlichter (iykyk)

Now you get a steady diet of 6-6 teams playing in the Rudipoo Toilet Bowl with 20 players opting out.

Missouri was just in the Music City Bowl last year. The SEC offices and bowls are very unlikely to do that two years in a row (one of the "Pool of 6" bowl level placement stipulations - other than the schools listing their bowl preferences, the bowls listing their school preferences, and the SEC front offices sorting it all out - is avoiding team repeats of being sent to the same bowl multiple years in a row, to avoid lessening the fan attendance for any schools).

Same goes for LSU and the Texas Bowl; they were just there last year and same issue.

There are too many bowl games now, but I do wish they'd add a Ty-D-Bol bowl game for two teams that started the season highly over-ranked and then went into the toilet as the season progressed:

They could switch LSU to Music City and Mizzou to Liberty but I doubt it...they want LSU in the Texas Bowl...

UK is happy to make a bowl so they would bring some fans to any of the three i think...

As a kid, I remember Johnny had us "back" in 1979 with Jimmy Streater in the Blue Bonnet bowl... Majors ultimately built us up, but no way he'd have been given 6 years in today's CFB.

I remember when they were meaningful.

They only were because you were given no alternative. You had accept that the bowl meant something because unless they decided you were the #1 team then it's all you had.

Basically it was getting everyone to like s*** sandwiches and now a few are like "Man I miss those s*** sandwiches".

Give me playoff every day of the week and twice on Sundays.

This, Bowl meant somewhat more when there were only about 15. Now every team that goes .500 gets a bowl (and sometimes not even .500). Bowls out side of the BCS/NY6 haven't meant anything in over 30 years and in the BCS outside of the NC game the others really didn't.
