The 90s's we were a fan base that loved 9+ win season....the Phil Fulmer tenure. 1992 (4-0) 1993(9-2-1), 1994 (8-4), 1995 (11-1), 1996 (10-2), 1997(11-2), 1998 0(13-0), 1999 (9-3).

We have a shot at going 10-3 still and the fan base has lost their minds! Fulmer took over an already stacked team with facilities that made it easy to recruit to over our rivals.

Butch is building something here. Pulling the plug now would kill our program another 4+ years. Yes, there is some turnover(same with the Fulmer and majors eras) difference is now social media lets you know instantly. I know as a fan base we want to be 15-0.. it takes time. The program was in shambles when he got here thanks to Dooley. We have a shot at going 10-3 in year 4 of the Butch slap era. As a fan base we have to be pleased with the progress. Lets face it the team has seem unmotivated at times, but no other team in the nation has lost the star power to injury that we have. We have 2 captains/all conf players that didn't even suit up for an SEC game. Injuries have put us way behind the 8 ball this year.

Stay the course Volnation. If you bash me for this post....Bin Laden will haunt you in your dreams.....:spank:

Yep it's too early to panic for sure but something has to be done about that O.C. situation and IMO in the defensive secondary.

I think it has been a perfect storm for the Fahr! Butch folks: a HORRIBLE loss to Carolina, ineptness on offense, and the Jalen mess. Nice to see some optimism on the board, we need it.

With that said, Mahoney and DeBord have to go. Like yesterday. I hope we go 10-3 and will be proud of the team if they can move past the s**t storm of the last few days and finish out with four solid wins. But this offense has to change, no question.

Agree. come out Saturday and manhandle a much much lesser opponent! Give us one game this year that were not sweating bullets in the fourth quarter.

Regardless if Deboard goes, this is still the style offense Butch wants to run. It worked on A&M for the most part, my concern is deeper in saying that I don't think this staff knows how to develop these players. I think something is wrong with there workout routine or what ever along those lines that get these players hurt during the season. You look at LSU Les Miles for whatever reason was having a hard time, Big ED takes over and they have same players but look like a different team, and I say they will beat BAMA this weekend. So there is a problem at some level of this program. You can't tell me all the talking heads that were around this team pre season and talking how they looked like a championship team. And now we are in a tail spin to the bottom of the SEC

No! We were playing for the East title and now we are not because of the unreadiness in Columbia. That falls on the shoulders of the Head Coach. The inept ability to adapt is asinine to this point in Jones 4th year. He's a snake oil salesman that won't ever get Tenn a SEC Championship. I applaud him for getting us out of the hole we were in but that's about all he's good for. He's proven he can't win when it matters.

FYI - Jones couldn't hold Fulmers jock strap so don't compare.

How does some one get 7*s ? Good for you.

I agree with you on stability part and upset losses are part of the game. However, Butch has to show willingness to change. You can't make same mistakes over and over. This is more than Jalen Hurd situation. This is about not being able to kill the clock when you have lead and only a first down is needed. This is about not having any creativity in offense. This is about not willing to try new things when game isn't going well. This is about playing ultra conservative. This is about kicking a 58-yard FG with a kicker who has made 1-2 kicks over 40 in his 3 years at UT.
I am not saying fire Butch (not that we can with his 10 million buyout and Dooley still on our paycheck). He has to change and upgrade. His WR coach has been unable to develop 4-5* prospects. North, Pearson, Malone, Preston Williams and others can't be fault of the individuals. If you can't develop WRs and have worst passing efficiency, then WR coach needs to be replaced.
When you say that, they point to bad QB play. Well, then get a good QB coach. Your senior QB gets outplayed by a freshmen in USC. Dobbs has worst numbers of his career in his senior year. Where is QB development ?
They blame Oline when you talk about QBs. Then fire your Oline coach. It is 4th year and you still can't point to one Dooley class for Oline failures. It is 4th year. All your Oline recruits should be Seniors and Juniors by now and showing up.
We have 2 Oline coaches, no QB coach, a WR coach who hasn't developed players to their potential, Our OC says other teams do not always 'call the same things he sees on film'. Those are all signs of a disaster.
To fix all this, Butch fired his DC. The only guy who has respectable numbers in his system. Now I still think Shoop will workout better in long run but getting new DC can't be priority when you have so many other dysfunctional parts.

Butch is at crossroads. His next moves will decide his fate and UT's fate for next few years. Yes 10 million is a big number but that is also equal to one of the highest paid coaches one year's salary (9 mill for Harbaugh). So if the direction isn't corrected, I am sure how long can Butch go.

10-3 is actually not very attainable with the way we are playing. We are realistically looking at 8-5 (with a bowl loss) if we find a way to beat stupid Kensucky.

Tntech-W
Kensucky-W?
Missouri--W
Vandy--L?

We have way too many fans on here (probably 25 and under) that want and expect championships NOW!! They want instant gratification and almost a feeling of entitlement (surprise surprise) as fans that this team "owes us"! Get real!!! It is damn hard to win EVERY week in the SEC...period! Fans need to realize that EVERY team starts out with the same goals that we have. They work and practice just as hard as we do. Every Saturday there are two or three plays that are the difference between a win/lose...not to mention the injury situations that totally change a team's chemistry and performance level....but again, we have way too many people on here that don't want to hear that. There again...it's all about us and what we're "owed" as fans...right?

Who on Volnation has the power or influence to pull the plug on CBJ? Unless we see the wheels come completely off this season, CBJ will be back next season at minimum.

How many f*** ups is it gonna take for some of you to stop telling us to be happy with the worst coach in the SEC. I don't care how many injuries we have , we lost 2 a worse team, for at least the 3 or 4th time in the last 2 years. He has not won a single game against a team that you could say was "better than us". The team has not played to its talent level 1 single time this year.
He is a paper coach, talks the talk but a total failure on the field!
The only thing going for him is he is better than the worst coach in UT vol history

Unless he dumps DeBord, gets lucky and makes a homerun hire for OC, then you will be 100% correct. Got lucky against GA and App State...so that masks this team/staff deficiencies. We probably should be 3-5 right now. The scary thing is getting lucky has probably postponed the inevitable (assuming our administration is not content with 8-9 wins per year).

You clearly have your head in the sand. And obviously have never played an ounce of football. Their are 2 games in a season a team should be absolutely excited about. 1 the opener and 2 the game after the bye week. Both those games we looked completely like crap! That falls on coaching. We were playing for a title and we crapped the bed against the worst offense in the country. Our Coach was to stubborn to make a change at QB when he clearly was NOT playing good. We have not played a complete game all season. The coaches do not adapt at all and do not make the adjustments when needed. On top of all that players are leaving. Sorry not everyone isn't a sunshine pumper. Truth hurts.

No my head stays well above the sand...and one has to question your football IQ if you don't understand key injuries and how they affect a team...any team! I completely agree that the team as a whole was flat Saturday (and that's on the coaches)..I believed they owned up to that. It's not like they're "putting their hands in the sand" either. Maybe you should simply jump ship and start following a program that you can pump a little sunshine in too! I have no doubt there's plenty of room on Bama's bandwagon!

I see improved win total season every year he has been here......I also see a team that was demolished by injuries.

So if you were to replace Butch who would you want? There are only 3-4 coaches who we could never get that could actually up the program from where he has it. Saban, Myer, Gruden. He is on the right path man stay the course. Winning more games then previous year ever year.

10-3 sounds great to me especially with the injuries. :loco:

The east is full of 1st, 2nd, or 3rd year coaches, rebuilding teams set back 3-4 years by coach changes(right) terrible teams, if we can't win it now what in the hell makes you think we ever will??
Every team has injuries it's football, we had more than our share but abselutly no excuse to lose to a SC team, period!

This has been a season long trend of Botch coming up with a bad gameplan. If he can't win the east this year, how is he ever going to do it.

Comparing Botch Jones to Phil Fulmer is laughable. Fulmer was an offensive coordinator and ace recruiter here before he took over and led us to an undefeated National Title. Botch Jones, not so much.
