There are 4 uncommitted players in the Rivals 150, not counting Larry Austin...

#6 Myles Turner
#80 Josh Cunningham
#119 Andre Adams
#127 Idrissa Diallo

4 Top 50 JUCOs uncommitted

#4 Deng Deng
#5 Jordan Goodman
#6 Willie Atwood(suppose to commit tomorrow)
#27 Obie Oleka

Typically this late guys are available because 1. They're not very good 2. They've got discipline issues 3. They've got grade issues

Maybe he takes his shot with guys that are risks and it works out for him, Pearl did this and was successful, but we did have out black eyes. Octavio's Ellis has discipline issues, but if he can get into school no doubting the talent. Devonta Pollard got kicked out of Bama (hard to do), but maybe he's learned his lesson? Obie Oleka is a very talented forward, but Texas released him because of issues he had.

He's got 2-3 guys at SMU that if they get a release I could see as contributors here. Jaysean Paige would be a great addition, Suarez and Carmichael as well.

I'm not sure what he's got planned, should be interesting.

I have heard varied reports as to how many scholarships we now have. Does anyone know the true number on this?

Kareem Canty??! Would never happen but it would be awesome if CDT stole him from Pearl

if they committed to USM to play for the coach, you'd think they'd follow him to the SEC and Knoxville if they could.

They probably would follow him but why would we or the coach want that? Do we want to be as good as USM would have been 2 or 3 years from now if the coach had stayed there?
I thought the point was that now that he is at better job he should be able to get better recruits? At least that's what he said he planned to do during his press conference.

As has already been pointed out there's not much left this time of year.

Martin hit on Stokes and Jrich in recruiting. Moore and DT may pan out ok.
He missed on Pops, Miller, Reese, Edwards, Yemi and Wes. That's 6 misses and 2 hits with 2 unsure in 3 years. That's bad, imo, and these defections wouldn't hurt as bad without those recruiting problems. Since that's his track record to date, how do you assume we are losing 4 good recruits when he's missed on 60-70% that he signed?
That said, what do you not see in the USM recruits that you saw in the ones that were committed to UT? Or are you just assuming they are worse because they were going to play there?
Bad assumption, imo. If you can play, you can play, and players are all over the place and choose schools and coaches for many reasons.

I agree with your percentage analysis. But to say "if you can play, you can play" doesn't make sense at this level. Church league- maybe.

I was not assuming anything about the 4 recruits we may lose - just pointing out that recruits who originally picked USM probably did that because they were not wanted by stronger programs - and there must have been a reason for that. By the way, CBJ has certainly not been bringing Cincy type of talent to UT since he was hired, has he? We need that same CBJ approach to recruiting from our new basketball coach.

Do you have to sign your openings? If not, can you roll those over?

Could have a recruiting class similar to the football teams' this year (large quantity) next year if that's the case.

Like i posted earlier, Dane Bradshaw and Ju Juan smith. Nobody thought they could play at this level. Watch basketball every night during the year and there are players all over the place that can play ball.
USM won a bunch of games. Beat Louisville. That means some of their players can play ball as well as others, doesnt it? Were Daytons players top ranked? Creighton. Florida gulf coast. I could go on.
You don't have to be highly ranked to be able to play and higher ranking doesn't mean you can.

Football is totally different than basketball. Takes a little longer to develop relationships in basketball.

Cant compare sports. I understand your point. I just don't assume they suck.
