OK, so Ive seen Bynum thrown around and reviewed his thread, but obviously the staff wont let 4 scholly's go to waste (unless they are planning a mega class next year), so that said, can some of the recruiting guru's opine for me on who we may try to secure with our last 4 slots?

Actually, I think they would hold onto those four schollies (assuming Bynum goes to Cincy; three if he's a Vol) because we only have 14 scholarship seniors next year. Even with attrition, that probably still leaves us short of a full class. With a great looking class already in the works for next year, why waste the scholarships on a boardline player?

I have been wondering this as well.

There is no mega class. The S.E.C. says we can only sign 25 recruits per class..

They won't be wasted....just left open for next year fellas.

The 25 isn't a static rule, just a max. There is an 85 player limit. It's impossible to sign 25 (theoretically speaking if everyone stayed 4 years, no transfers, or drop-outs) every year because at 4 years there would be a 100--15 over.

But guys leave, quit, go pro, or get kicked off and it opens up X amount of spots.

Basic rule to know:

1) 25 max limit unless backcounting.

13 seniors + MAYBE 2-3 juniors leaving early for the draft does not spell a mega class next year. We may not even sign 20, unless we do some spring cleaning on the roster. Just clearing that up before anyone runs with it.

Attrition is the only thing that would make room for a "mega" class. We won't have enough room to even sign 25 next year more than likely.

correct me if I'm wrong but scholarships are for one year? Even if they aren't, some players could be told that they won't ever be playing and to look elsewhere. Saban does it every year. There are some who just don't pan out. I looked back at a lot of our past classes.
As far as star ratings go, we have approximately same star rated class as we had when we finished in the top 10. We just haven't filled out class. Second, go back and look at past classes. There are several 4* and 5* we signed that never saw the field or played sparingly.

So say we got 18-20 guys we can take next yr...what would be the best position breakdown after what we got today? I know OL and LB heavy...

SO....If we dont sign anyone else, all other things held constant, we can sign how many NEXT year:
A)25
B)29
C)All of the above
D)None of the above

Just trying to learn here folks, dont slap the 'tard....

If everything remains constant, we can potentially sign 29 next year. However, the roster numbers we have say otherwise unless we want to dump a large chunk of our roster.

4 or 5 OL
3 LB
3 DB
3 or 4 DL
1 RB
2 WR(depending on what Roger and Hunter does after next year)
1 QB?(depending on what Bray does after next year)

-not sure about the rest:unsure:
