What's your thoughts about the Sabbath Day ?

Should it only be a day of rest and attending church services ?

Is it okay to work on the Sabbath ?

Is it a sin to go to church Sunday morning, then go out to eat lunch ?

First of all, why does the sabbath have to be on Sunday?

I was raised that you should not work or basically do any thing on Sunday but I think this is nothing more than a "learned" trait of faith.

What is the difference between going out to eat and going home and making dinner?

From my understanding the seventh day of the week was the Sabbath in the OT. The 1st day of the week came to be the Christian Sabbath after the resurrection of Christ on the 1st day of the week.

I also was raised where Sunday was a day to go to Church and spend time with the family.
Back in the 1960's it was illegal for stores to be open on Sunday. If I recall correctly, the Blue Law came along in the late 60's and stores were allowed to open from 1 PM-6 PM on Sundays... Oh how times have changed.

I personally don't see anything wrong with dining out on Sundays. We do and I use the same argument as you.

The strick requirements concerning the Sabbath are in the OT. In the NT you read about Jesus teaching and healing on the Sabbath. He gave some examples that it is okay to do some work on the sabbath.

by dining out on sundays aren't you creating a demand in which restaurants need to supply, giving rise to people having to work on sunday or severely risk their employment?

Yes, you are correct and I have heard many people use this example as a reason not to eat out on Sundays.

I've heard two different schools of thought from Baptists. I would think that saying one can get their rewards on Earth instead of in heaven would be taking one verse and having it take precedence over several books, but that's just me. Obviously in Christianity one should pray, but praying like you are making a wish to Santa isn't likely to net you results.
