Petrino is on the short list.

Strong and Patterson will have to tell us no before Petrino is considered. The hate toward Petrino would only last until his first win vs a ranked team. Any of these three would be major upgrades.

Good! If no Gruden, go for Petrino.
Is he a scumbag? Sure is...but who cares? Saban is a scumbag...we need a winning coach, not a nice guy.

I know this doesn't carry much weight but it's a personal preference for me.

If UTK were to hire Petrino, I would completely disassociate myself with the University. I would reconsider attending next fall, I would literally give away all of my vol attire, and never watch or attend another UTK athletics event until Petrino was fired (boycott would hold if he was allowed to leave on his own).

I do not wish to associate myself with a university that puts football wins ahead of their moral standards.

If your choosing Utk based on moral standing you are in for a big surprise when you get there.

Good post

Find a coach with consistent top performance that isn't tainted by something that has happened under their tenure. College athletes screw up, but your job depends on winning. Coaches are paid to win, not be moral guides for student athletes. They are there to win games and put asses in seats. All three of these guys can do those things.

If you think that Majors, Fulmer, Kiffin and even Dooley were perfect moral characters you guys are nuts...
The beloved Bruce Pearl allegedly got divorced because he fell in the Petrino category...so Bruce is a rock star but Petrino is trash? Geez!

Could he recruit worth crap? Would he realize you need a defense? He's a great offensive mind no doubt, but he's got to be at the bottom of that short list i'd hope..

IMO the widespread drug issues at tcu are significant enough to drop patterson down the list. I agree with all you say but that is a bigger issue than petrino. It tells me he might have a hard time in the discipline department and that scares me in the situation we are in. He is below strong and bobby p for me

So you're saying that you've never made a mistake . Since this man made a mistake he should never get another chance to coach ?

You can't make everyone happy.. Petrino has burned bridges everywhere he's been, that is true.. Would he win here. Yeah he would. He's not the worst choice in my mind..

A huge tenant of my faith is to forgive those who transgress. I view this as a moral win for the university. Not the moral victory we are used to around here, a real moral victory.

Good lord he wrecked a bike with his mistress. Bigger travesties have happened. Not saying I want him, but dam.

It's not just that.

It's blatantly lying about it to his AD, the media, and his fans. It's the trying to lobby for other jobs (mid season at that) while he was still the Louisville head coach. It's the signing a 10 year deal at Louisville in the summer of '06 and claiming he was fully committed only to leave for the Falcons at the beginning of '07. It's the leaving the Falcons in the middle of the night mid-season to become the head coach at Arkansas.

It's the combination of all of those mentioned above that makes me want to have nothing to do with hem.

If your choosing Utk based on moral standing you are in for a big surprise when you get there.

I don't care what you and your idiot frat brothers did to sorority sluts on Friday nights.

I'm talking about academic integrity in the Colleges that matter. And no, that does not mean majoring in art history.

Lol at Mister Moral Standards over here.. You're the kinda soft minded goobs that nobody wants here anyways..

It's FOOTBALL WINS OVER EVERYTHING IMO:) dont like it..... Go somewhere like Vandy where their school doesn't rely on their football program's success.
