A great player and one of the crown jewels of Majors' early recruiting efforts passed away today. I was a college Freshman (1979) when he was a Junior.

He still holds two (2) career records at UT (catches and yards). He will have to be regarded as one of the best tight ends to ever play at UT. He had the athleticisim of a wide receiver, but the size necessary to play that position.

First UT jersey I owned was Reggie's #85. Wore it for many years. Peace be with Reggie and his family.

That's very sad to hear...I loved watching him play...He was way too young to leave us.

Yeah a friend from Hartsville txt me the other day and told me. I guess he was sick for awhile. From what I hear he was a good ol' guy. I'm sure Reggies in a better place.

On a side note: some relitives of Reggie are some pretty good ball players. I think Trousdale Co. running back last year was kin. He was a good HS player. From what I hear his younger brother is suposed to be a baller. You can tell I dont know the specifics but I found it interesting.

Terrific player & great Vol. His catch at the '85 Sugar Bowl turned that game around as UT destroyed Miami. I can still see Reggie's leap into the endzone snagging that pass from D. Dickey. Condolences to his family.

^^ That was a different tight end. Reggie Harper's last season was 1980, IIRC.

Nevertheless, the point of the thread is his passing and your expression of condolences is well taken by all here I am sure.
