Regarding Clawson

I don't know what to believe. I've heard these stories you have but also heard that on more than one occasion Fulmer asked if Clawson wanted to bring a new QB in and he said no. I've heard both sides from equally reputable sources.

Understandable. That's the issue with "sources" -- I'll stand by my statements though....unfortunately, I don't think the one I just made can be proved.

Rest assured though, Fulmer will not be back next year and I believe they are hoping will announce his retirement on his own will. This is currently not happening.

Clawsonites? Are you serious?

I'm not defending him...I am refusing to place the blame anywhere other than where it belongs...

Fulmer has escaped hsi fate by letting blame be placed on others before and although I agree with you that Clawson hasn't lived up to expectations I refuse to let that distract my attention from the real problem with our program

If you thought Randy Sanders was a good coach than your crazy!!! The only game that he was good in was the NC game, the first and only game he really ever coached.

Now I think Fulmer is done on the hill but not putting some of the blame on Clawsen is foolish. Our offensive line did not have this much trouble last year blocking and I am not talking about pass blocking which they have gotten worse in as well. So you cant really sit back and not think that this offense may just be too complex for all this moving around and rotating lineman.

I think eventually it will work itself out but all the coaches are to blame and players are also to blame for not executing and foolish penalties. It's just a big Cluster on Offense, but hopefully we can turn the ship around soon.

Clawson deserves as much blame as anybody. I can not remember the last time that Tennessee could not complete a downfield pass. If anything, with the spread, we should be able to pass better. I hope TN can get a good defense of minded coach, then hire an offensive coordinator who runs a pro style smash mouth offense. TN had lots of success with that formula in the past.

Clawson has not been a good thing for our team...I'm not denying that...just like I'm not denying that Sanders was a bad OC as well...

All I'm saying is I will not let that distract my attention from where I believe the overwhelming majority(and by majority I mean roughly 99%) of the blame lies...

The thread starter was placing a lack of fire and discipline on offense squarely on the shoulders of Clawson...I'm saying the constant in the equation is undeniably Fulmer

I don't see how being critical of Clawson at all detracts from the fact that Fulmer needs replacing. He was the one who made the hire to begin with and ultimately the failure of our team this year is on him.

It's not like anyone making any of the decisions are basing them off this thread anyway.

Maybe the reason thiss offense doesnt work because we got a bunch of players with 2.3 gpa that are not smart enough to know what to do. And it usually takes 2-3 to really get an offense like this working. If we are back in the spotlight in 3 years and Fulmer and Clawson are still here. Im sure none of you will own up to any of this garabeg yall are saying.

Matthews said that was not true after talking to more than a couple of his sources. I've heard the opposite as well though. Like I said I no longer know what to believe.

agree. it is hard to tell exactly what is correct and what isn't, especially after it gets passed around a bit.

imo, CPF made at least 3 very bad decisions. he promoted RS to OC. he kept RS at OC too long. and then he hired clawson.

even with CPF being a micromanager of the O (if he is, and we probably don't really know) i would think that if clawson was a great OC we would see better results out of the team and out of stevens and crompton.

After reading this, I'm not sure you need to be the one to poke fun of anyone's GPA.

Anyone else find it strange that the two coaches under the most pressure switched to new offenses this year? Tubby and Fulmer, although I am not completely sold on Clawson, I do think he can recover and probably deserves a chance to do so with TN.

I started a thread on this very subject. Go over to spidernation.com and read what Richmond fans have to say about how strong Clawson left them. You have to give a guy time TO GET HIS PLAYERS into his system. Honestly, he's got crap to work with at quarterback. Our recruiting has fallen but look at it this year with Clawson and his staff. Give him time man, give him time. Hell, Cut didn't want Crompton either which leaves us with what we've got now. Our O Line isn't at the level of the 90's by a long shot. It ticks me off to no end for the same people to sit here & say wait, Rich Rodriguez will have Michigan back up top real soon and not give Clawson the same courtesy.

THIS HAS FULMER'S NAME ALL OVER IT....

I will say this again, we are not seeing Clawson's offense. How do you know VVF.
Because I have seen the Clawson coached Richmond team.

I will also remind you,as I said in another thread. Richmond football before Clawson was a joke.

Lets face it sometimes it takes more than 1 season to install a new offense. Especially since we don't have the players to make the offense work

You can call me a Clawsonite. I hope that if CPF is gone at the end of the season or when ever. That the new HC keeps him around.

Nobody is saying that FUlmer does not need to go and his name is not all over it.......
But come on the offensive line looks pathetic right now. We have players from other teams saying they knew which way we were going to run the ball. That is Clawsen formations. Yeah it will eventually work with the right players but to me, a good coach can come in and make work with what he has. Now granted the QB situation is not the best but our running game should not look like it does. I think we should give Clawsen another chance but I wanna see improvement now and not next year. I mean he has had 7 games to make something work and look like we are heading in the right direction and he has not shown me that much.
