This topic is discussed in this forum a number of time weekly if not daily.

I thought it might save us some rehashing to have a tread on the topic to refer to from time to time when the topic pops up.

RS rules to remember

1) if a kid plays at all they can't get a regular RS for that year.

2) if a kid plays less than 30% of the games with none of those past the half way point in the season and gets INJURED they can get a medical RS.

3) the only way to get a 6th year, or 2nd RS yr, is if BOTH RS years are medical.

Hope this helps.

So, at this point, both freshmen q.b.'s can red-shirt, but since Paul Harris had one catch for 4 yards in a game, he can not red-shirt.

It would have to go under an injury redshirt. The University would have to provide appropriate medical documentation for Harris to get the redshirt. However, Paul played in the USCe game so I believe that rules any chance of a redshirt for him out.

If Paul needs it, he can always redshirt next year, especially since we don't lose any WRs and are picking up Pearson, Wharton, Creamer, Booth and possibly Malone.

I didn't realize Harris played this week. If so that tells me the staff had no real evidence of an injury so there was no real reason to save him for a potential medical RS.

We do have a number of other medical RS guys that we will potition the NCAA for.

Bruin, is there a list of these anywhere?

Not Bruin, but here's a list of possible redshirts. Some have played early games, but could have "injury" issues allowing them to redshirt the rest of the year.

QB
J. Dobbs
R. Ferguson

RB
J. Pickett - Transfer

WR
R. Jenkins (injury)

TE
W. Quinn - played 3 early games

OL
B. Kendrick
M. Jackson
A. Sanders

DL
A. Carson
M. Brown
J. Carr - played 3 early games
J. Miller - played 3 early games
K. Vickers

LB
C. Maggitt
J. King

DB
R. Jones (injury, seems likely to play)

This is why Paulk could be a candidate for a greyshirt. I am not saying that he will be, and obviously the staff and Paulk will agree that it is best for him. But, if Paulk comes in the spring semester of 2015, then he saves burning a redshirt. The only way he would get another one is if he were injured again.

Harris was a EE and gained a some hype over the winter as being very athletic, good hands....anybody know the deal with this kid? He's been virtually invisible. Wouldn't of thought it considering the youth and inexperience of our WR corp.

I remember 2 times at the game he was wide open but Worley didn't go through his progressions

I believe injury has slowed him down.

I would guess a mixture between inconsistent QB play and still needs to add weight. I think Harris needs to get a bit bigger before he becomes a possible every down player.
