ivan maisel in the espn podcast referred to it as a "monday through friday" rivalry.

"monday through friday, there's a lot of yapping and chest pounding.....

saturday, there's no rivalry"

Hype hype and more hype.

I have no problem with Forde per se, but until we hit Florida in the mouth a couple of season in a row this rivalry is one sided...unfortunately we see them as a "rival" they see us as another SEC team on the schedule.

GO VOLS

I agree the rivalry at this point is one sided. However, if you think the Florida fans see Tennessee as just another SEC team on their schedule, you haven't been paying attention.

glad to see you left gvx 99gator...I became nauseated by that crap site a year and a half ago and couldn't take it any longer.

You'll like it over here, and people will find that your input (even though you are a gator) is very enjoyable.

...but yes, that quote is fitting right now, but college football has its cycles, enjoy it while you can

oh it is, i was implying that that would never have been said if everyone wasnt so anti-UT and up UF's butt so much. but i guess thats just part of them being what they are now...

Sort of... but one of the major reasons its tied, or even close, is because we barely played at all until Steve Spurrier arrived at Florida.

Double edged sword.
To calrify that point further, the Vols and Gators didn't schedule each other very often until the Cockies and Hogs were added to the SEC and the conference was divided into divisions. When that happened Tennessee and Florida were put in the same division which required an annual game.

Wow, espn really wants florida to beat us by a ridiculous score don't they? All these write ups keep talking about us losing by anywhere from 70 to 100 points.

Look analysts, I don't think meyer's a classy guy, but I don't think he's that classless of a guy to run up the score by that ridiculous of a margin.

but they sure do want it to happen so they can write about it later...

So you're saying that they can beat us by that much?

To be honest, I couldn't give a damn of a game that happened 30 years ago. Recent history (within the past 20 years) is all I really care about. What am I going to do...boast about a game that happened in 1936 or even 1980 for that matter? No.

The Gators have dominated us over the past 15-20 years and that's all that really matters.

No way. Sure, maybe UF might get the better of UT this year, but I think everyone knows that Lane Kiffin will have his boys ready to play on Gator Week. Its gonna be a fast, uptempo, high intensity game. The gators might get the best of the vols this year due to tons of returning talent, but theres no way its a blow out.

Agreed. And I think Coach Monte will have a lot to do with the "blowout" not happening.

The past is the past, whether its 5 years or 50 years.

No, I don't think they can beat us by that much. But the sports media wants it to happen.

I mean, if we lose to florida, I can see the loss being by two to three (at most) touchdowns unless we totally and completely implode like we did in the 2007 florida game.

That said - and as much as I dislike meyer - he's still not the guy who would, if he's up by two or three tds in the fourth, keep in his starters and start bombing hail mary's for 4-7 more drives as a screw you move to the other side (spurrier would, but he's a different guy)....not a fan but he just seems, well, more mature than say your average xbox gamer playing online

It's just again, the analysts really want a blowout by a ridiculous margin so they can write up along the lines of "Lane Kiffin you dumb:censored:. That's what you get for running your mouth like a child. You and your team were just thoroughly humiliated in front of everyone. You deserved it idiot"....of course they'd clean it up b/c the press uses much nicer words when they insult you :)

There is no rivalry with florida right now. Until we make it a rivalry again, there isn't much to discuss except pick your score. We have a certain disposed beloved coach to thank and a administration that sat on their collective hands and did nothing until it got to the lopsided state its in.
