Ive been paying a lot of attention the last few days to rivals. Right now we are 32nd in the nation in recruiting class and we have no 5 star players what-so-ever. Does anyone else keep up with recruiting like me??? if so who do you think we need or should go after really hard. Percy Harvin looks good to me and were on a very long list for him. and also Vidal Hazelton... both WR look incredible. HOW DID WE LET WARREN GET AWAY!!! he is the 20th best player in the nation!!

I don't follow recruiting at all, simply because you never know how players abilities will translate from HS to college. While I realize you must try to get the best players available, it's up to the coaches to get the guys in the best positions to win.

Please don't get me wrong, I agree whole heartedly recruiting is the life blood of any program. I'm just too lazy to keep up with all of it. Kudos to your diligent interset in the Big Orange. I'm just sayin' I'm a little disappointed in the results lately of the team with such a huge amount of talent. I can only think that the coaching staff hasn't been getting them in the right position to kick ass. Hopefully that will reverse next Saturday in Tuscaloosa.. Go Vols

I follow recruting too.

When we have good seasons like last year, the recruiting class is great.
Bad seasons like this one we always have bad recruiting classes.
A lot too depends on what seniors are graduating as to what class we get. If a QB is a senior, we usually get lots of interest from QB prospects, etc.

The Vols need Andre Smith. I would like to see them add a few more quality linebackers ( Tatum and Sims preferably). A tall reciever that will go up and get the ball would also be nice. Does this read like a christmans wish list or what?

Alot can happen between now and signing day. We had Carnel Williams and Chris Simms verbally committed but hey were snatched away last minute by a couple snake oil salesmen. We will land some top 100 how many remains to be seen.
Id check out the juco list becasue we will need some dl help for next season and we typically fare well getting some jucos to make an immediate impact.

i know of 3 juco players we are actively recruiting, all on defense and all can come in and immediately play.

1.walter fisher-de-after watching his film, he has all the technique in the world and could possibly come in and fight for a starting spot.
2.larry grant-mlb-alot like fisher. he is a very, very fast lb and could come in and take the open spot at mlb for us next year.
3.louis holmes-de-hes a tall de with very good speed, could be an awesome rush end.

of these 3, i see us getting fisher and grant. fisher is committed and was committed out of hs. grant absolutely loves ut and visited us against uga. we are definitely his leaders. holmes is supposed to visit, but will prolly end up at oklahoma.

Warren's family is from Florida and he has always been an FSU fan, UT was behind the 8-ball from the beginning. Plus his mother perfers him at FSU.

Forget Harvin

Tony Baker and James Davis both tried to commit to UT last year and UT refused them.

Don't forget Ronnie Brown wanted to attend UT until a snake oil salesman in South Alabama convinced him UT was going on probation.

IMO tennessee has some major problems recruiting this year. Mainly because Spurrier has really stepped up the recruiting in his home state, Richt is doing well as always in GA, and LSU is doing very well too. We used to recruit well in the southeast but GA and LSU and SC are making it a lot tougher then it used to be.

The one area I thought we might do well is at the D-line and LB. Since our Dline is very good and graduating I felt we could bring in some good prospects. We havent been so far, we have a few interested prospects not they are interested in a lot of other schools as well. Right now there arent many players high on going to UT, they have a medium interest, along with a half dozen other schools. The worse we play the worse this gets. I think this may be the first year in a long time we finish outside the top 20 in recruiting. The bad play this year is really hurting our recruiting.

I just have this sneaky feeling that we won't haul in a really bigtime recruiting class this year. I think our performance thus far, given early seasons predictions, is going to dissuade a lot of guys. Just a feeling...but I keep up with the recruiting BIGTIME!

i dont think we will have a huge recruiting year either. check the rankings, we never have 2 straight. we have 1 great one and the 2-3 decent ones and come back with another great one.

i havent heard much of childers. he might not be too high on uts board right now, but im sure ill hear more about him as the recruiting season goes on.

as for grant, i think he can come in and start over the m n ms. mathis will be groomed for greatness while waiting for his chance. mitchell just doesnt strike me as a starter, a good backup though. i dont think he'll attend uf because hed most likely ride the pine. i dont see him jumping everett or siler, he could take over in the absence of mccollough(sp?) though, but right now i dont know why hed risk it when hes loves the orange and white.

This years performance actually plays a smaller part in recruiting than you think. Shoot, look at the recruiting class Penn State pulled in last season and what was there record last year? Like 6-5?

UTK will pull some big commitments late and end up with a very solid class. The tradition and facilities are just too big of a draw not too.

it is usual we are off to a slow start. this year i believe will be a down year in recruiting for us unless we can pll off some upsets . as i have stated before i think after how bad our offense has looked it is going to be hard for sanders and fullmer to talk top talent to come to tennessee.

We need a big time running back. Riggs is gone and the ones we have in the stable don't appera ro be franchise makers. Who is the best RB out there?

The backs UT have on the roster for next year will be difference makers.

How can You are anyone else form that opinion when together they have had 28 attempts between the 3 of them especially with this O-Line.

The RB's UT is recruiting hard are:
#1 LeSean McCoy 5-11/204/4.4 Harrisburg, PA (Grades are an Issue)
#2 Stafon Johnson 5-11/200/4.4 Los Angeles, CA
#4 C.J. Spiller 5-9/185/4.4 Lake Butler, FL
#6 Josh Adams 6-0/170/4.58 Cary, NC
Keiland Williams 6-0/215/4.4 Hargrave

When did everyone start putting so much stock into recruiting class rankings in October? I think it is just a little too early to hit the panic button.
