How many of our starters had higher recruiting ranking than their counterpart at UK (or GSU or BYU)?

if you look at the last four classes average star ranking Bama and Georgia each average 4.0 While we come in at 3.4 and Kentucky comes in at 3.2....So our talent level is closer to Kentucky than Bama or Georgia

They are just about out of spots and 5th in conference with little to no shot of making up ground.

Won't be surprised if the Aggies and maybe Auburn passes them up too given they only have 16 and 13 commits total.

Unlikely to see them do anything but drop in the rankings in conference.

UK hurt recruiting.

It has to get better but its not going unless results on Saturdays start changing. You reach a point where ideas are no longer a selling point. We re pretty much there.

This!

Not only did we get our clock cleaned versus Kentucky, UT had the lowest point total of the year versus Alabama. It was Missouri who had 19 points against Alabama. What is more puzzling are the rave reviews JG got for the game.

As mentioned Ole Miss put up 48.

In my book, having more talent and losing by 27 at home = coaching deficiency

Ok..

1. Bryce Thompson is playing very well, especially for a sophomore. He will go to the NFL, probably early. Taylor needs replacing IMO...hopefully somebody better like maybe Key Lawrence beats him out ...

2. We have only seen Hyatt play any minutes so far out of our freshmen, because they are still kids that had no spring and half a fall camp. Regardless of who plays now, we just signed our best recruiting class at WR and probably LB since Fulmer was HC. Hyatt, Wideman, Beckwith, Holaday....Hyatt and at least 1 more out of those 4 WR will be able to play at an all SEC level before they are done on the hill. Beckwith and Wideman are both freak athletes for their size... have you seen the gators new TE? 6ft 6in and 235lbs but WR speed??? Thats Dee Beckwith. He will be an absolute beast.

3. We have a top 10 class coming in for 2021... which includes what may be the solution to BY FAR the biggest problem on our team .. QB. Salter is all Vol....a highly ranked 4 star just like HB....but he is a TRUE dual threat QB. The kid can flat run...as well as do his REAL job , throwing the ball accurately. Next seasons QB race will be wide open between Maurer, Bailey, and Salter....any of those 3 will be a million times better than THE WORST QB to ever start 20 games or more at UT....J.G...whose record is now 9 and 18 as a starter. Smdh..

4. Talent has steadily improved every year since CJP got here. Recruiting classes have also improved every season. There is plenty of room for criticism for this coaching staff, and I think Weinke and maybe others will be fired after the season...but talent isn't a problem . Other than the QB position, developing talent has not been a problem either. From Warriors massive improvement to the younger guys stepping up, I believe this staff can develop talent. Weakness lies at obviously QB , play calling on offense, and adjustments at halftime. Hopefully CJP gets much better at these things because he will be here for at least 2 more years. Fwiw, I still believe in CJP. He is learning on the job, but he has us headed in the right direction. Even if he doesn't get us back to championship level....he has improved this team and program in every possible way except at QB....

Pruitt can’t sell “vision” anymore.

He has to prove it on the field and so far, the results have been horrible.

I will have to say, I am surprised by the lack of progress from Pruitt.

I can't say I am seeing ANY progress??

I certainly at this point don't feel very confident about a "W" in any of the remaining games.

I know many might say Vandy, but I am not so sure.

So that means Lane didn't put 48 points on Bama?
You giving out participation trophies for points Coach? The Tide gets more,
Alabama won.
Ole Miss lost.
Spin your agenda however you wish, but that fact remains the same.
College football is not NASCAR, the losers point total will not count toward the playoffs.

It is about a team getting better in year one with a new coach and less talent. Is it really that damn difficult to figure out?

As it’s been mentioned before, we get excited that we have a class that includes 2 to 4 of the top 100 players while Bama and Georgia sign 10 each year...we signed 11 players that made the top 100 over the last 4 years while Bama signed 40 and Georgia signed 39...We aren’t one of the destination schools and that doesn’t change overnight...and every time we have one of those no show games (Kentucky, Georgia State, etc) it makes it harder to change the perception...we need some solid seasons where we beat who we‘re supposed to beat and play the elite teams to the wire before kids will look at UT as a destination school again...

Bring this up in a 3-stars thread and you will get skewered. But it’s the truth. On average and over the large picture, we absolutely need the higher rated talent. The probability of missing on a recruit goes down overall.

Other than you, who would not hold their judgement on whether a team has improved until the end of season? The Ole Miss record can't be determined by how many points they happened to score against Alabama. Nor is it any indication of if a team has improved.

We get it, you hate CJP. But don't try to sell such BS.

Any new recruits coming to the hill had better be good when they arrive as they won't get any better once they're here. Our lack of player development is obvious.

Ole Miss put 48 points on the board vs Bama. I do not want to hear anymore excuses about talent. If people believe Ole Miss has more talent than UT they need psychiatric help.

I agree, if ole miss put up 48 we should also be able to do that, of course if we had, Bama could have scored 60 or more on us if they wanted to, but 60 to 48 is much better than the results we had.

I will be shocked if anyone plays qb other than jg next year. I hope I am wrong though. Jg doesn't need to play another down at ut, other than mop up or due to injuries. Pruitt actually said jg had a very good game Sat. 17 points and very good, missed several open receivers on 3rd down, and a good game, don't understand that mentality, I believe the lowest points scored against bama this year.

You obviously don't get it. I do not hate Pruitt. Quite the opposite. I want him to be successful but I am also going to call out what I believe are mistakes and also stupid decisions. Maybe you shouldn't ASSume. It isn't working out well for you.
