I agree, if ole miss put up 48 we should also be able to do that, of course if we had, Bama could have scored 60 or more on us if they wanted to, but 60 to 48 is much better than the results we had.
I legit think Saban was right about Ole Miss stealing their signs because Ole Miss has only scored in the 20's since then against Arkansas and Auburn and Bama hasn't given up more than 24 against anyone else.

Ole Miss put 48 points on the board vs Bama. I do not want to hear anymore excuses about talent. If people believe Ole Miss has more talent than UT they need psychiatric help.
This. All day. Alabama is great. But they aren't superhuman. Scheme. That's the difference. Play to their weaknesses, not ours. It hurts to think where we would be if Kiffin had stayed.

We would hv been on probation! Kiffin is completely immoral and so is Ed O..... Kiffin was a total dousche when he was at UT, showing highlights of USC players....

is he a great offensive coach? Yea he is very good no doubt.... but there are many good offensive coaches out there too....

Even a lot of your high star players sometimes don’t pan out.. that’s why you need a lot of them.
I see your point, but your high end 4 stars and almost all 5 star recruits are ready to contribute immediately. That's what we need right now! Until we get those on every recruiting cycle we will be stuck behind Georgia and Florida every year in the east.

We have a high end 4 star but he’s stuck behind JG and JT. 🤷‍♂️

Have you met our freshman and sophomores? By far the best players on the team in Pruitt’s first two full classes. 2017 was a rushed class and late hire. Like someone else said, this has always been a 5 year rebuild. 8-4 in year two isn’t too shabby, this year is yet to be determined.

Disagree

With a modicum of decent coaching this team would have been 10-2...that would not have been too shabby. That actually wpuld have been great...but it didnt happen because of Ga State and BYU..teams with now where near the talent of UT..

That is coaching or lack of of coaching

As it’s been mentioned before, we get excited that we have a class that includes 2 to 4 of the top 100 players while Bama and Georgia sign 10 each year...we signed 11 players that made the top 100 over the last 4 years while Bama signed 40 and Georgia signed 39...We aren’t one of the destination schools and that doesn’t change overnight...and every time we have one of those no show games (Kentucky, Georgia State, etc) it makes it harder to change the perception...we need some solid seasons where we beat who we‘re supposed to beat and play the elite teams to the wire before kids will look at UT as a destination school again...

Just beat Kentucky and Georgia St...then worry about UGA amd Bama and Florida

Ok..

1. Bryce Thompson is playing very well, especially for a sophomore. He will go to the NFL, probably early. Taylor needs replacing IMO...hopefully somebody better like maybe Key Lawrence beats him out ...

2. We have only seen Hyatt play any minutes so far out of our freshmen, because they are still kids that had no spring and half a fall camp. Regardless of who plays now, we just signed our best recruiting class at WR and probably LB since Fulmer was HC. Hyatt, Wideman, Beckwith, Holaday....Hyatt and at least 1 more out of those 4 WR will be able to play at an all SEC level before they are done on the hill. Beckwith and Wideman are both freak athletes for their size... have you seen the gators new TE? 6ft 6in and 235lbs but WR speed??? Thats Dee Beckwith. He will be an absolute beast.

3. We have a top 10 class coming in for 2021... which includes what may be the solution to BY FAR the biggest problem on our team .. QB. Salter is all Vol....a highly ranked 4 star just like HB....but he is a TRUE dual threat QB. The kid can flat run...as well as do his REAL job , throwing the ball accurately. Next seasons QB race will be wide open between Maurer, Bailey, and Salter....any of those 3 will be a million times better than THE WORST QB to ever start 20 games or more at UT....J.G...whose record is now 9 and 18 as a starter. Smdh..

4. Talent has steadily improved every year since CJP got here. Recruiting classes have also improved every season. There is plenty of room for criticism for this coaching staff, and I think Weinke and maybe others will be fired after the season...but talent isn't a problem . Other than the QB position, developing talent has not been a problem either. From Warriors massive improvement to the younger guys stepping up, I believe this staff can develop talent. Weakness lies at obviously QB , play calling on offense, and adjustments at halftime. Hopefully CJP gets much better at these things because he will be here for at least 2 more years. Fwiw, I still believe in CJP. He is learning on the job, but he has us headed in the right direction. Even if he doesn't get us back to championship level....he has improved this team and program in every possible way except at QB....

Well QB and being competitive..

I his first 30 games CDD lost 6 by 21 or more

In his first 30 games CBJ lost 6 by 21 or more

In his first 30 games CJP has lost 12 by 21 or more.

CJP has lost FORTY PERCENT of his games as HC by 3 touchdowns or more...

Blame CBJ, blame CPF, blame JG..

This is his team and he is responsible for the results. And right now those results are lackluster

I doubt it. Teams change their signs or should especially if you are playing a team with a former coordinator as HC on the team you are playing against.

Butch was i

Butch was in this position after year 3.. Kids got tired of his used car salesman pitch and we ended up with guys that should have played in the Sunbelt. Hope that doesn't happen with this guy. That's why i've always been reserved in saying guys deserve 5 years. You have to watch the recruiting trends. If it goes like Butch's did it's best to cut bait before you have to purge the roster like we just did.

Jones had his best years in the 3rd and 4th. His problem at that particular time wasn't that his teams wernt showing some progress. He was having issues promising stuff that wasn't going go happen. His 4th year he had as much talent as anybody other than Bama. Then blew up the end of the season.

UT has about put themselves in a position where they re gonna have to ride a coach out longer than the fans have patience for. They havent proven they can go get the guy yet.

It's not unheard of for their to be shenanigans of that type though where somebody figures out an effective method of espionage, Florida was doing shady crap like that back in the Charlie Pell days, it's why the Sugar Vols went to the Sugar Bowl, UF got slapped down as close to the death penalty as you could get without getting it, they were on probation for like 5 years, multi-year bowl ban, scholarship reduction and championship ineligibility.

They are just about out of spots and 5th in conference with little to no shot of making up ground.

Won't be surprised if the Aggies and maybe Auburn passes them up too given they only have 16 and 13 commits total.

Unlikely to see them do anything but drop in the rankings in conference.
Do you feel like if we beat AnM & Auburn recruiting could come back around? With descent QB play I think those are winnable games.

Bring in more and more talent and I am confident we have a good enough system. Just need to continue to recruit highly. Need to win more games this year to keep an upward trend.
Is Terrence Lewis a firm commit?
Is he an EE??

I think Pruitt can coach up the talent. We just need better more physical guys.

It is a numbers thing. They already have 26 commits. Probably need to go to recruiting forum to find out exactly how many they can sign but I think they'd be close to being maxed out. Days of signing 32 to a class are over.

Unless they flip some guys and dump some lesser talent, I'd say they are about where they are gonna be and other teams have the chance to jump them.

Beating the Aggies or Auburn would help right the ship ion the season but I dont see a huge recruiting boost.

I guess I should restate my prior post with a slightly different take. I’m sure Kiffin and others do try to pick up on the other teams signals but that would be a little hard to do with the speed of the game between plays IMO. I think it is more likely they can guess tendencies based on a teams plays out of a specific formation than stealing the signals. I’m sure Saban mixes up different signals from game to game and year to year.
