Recruiting

BYU is solid. Georgia State and KY are the two games that I don’t understand...
Georgia State is ALL on the coaches. No doubt.
In the Kentucky game, the defense quit for whatever reason you want to believe.
I did not notice any indication of CJP losing the team against bama, but it would be hard to tell since they have such superior talent there was no way for us to be competitive.
We will find out soon enough. We are all unfortunately experts on what a Vol team looks like when they quit on the coach. Then it is the AD's call as to get rid of the coach or allow the coach to process the players. We poor unwashed fans have no say whatsoever, regardless of what our armchair coaches and keyboard warriors say or do.

You obviously don't get it. I do not hate Pruitt. Quite the opposite. I want him to be successful but I am also going to call out what I believe are mistakes and also stupid decisions. Maybe you shouldn't ASSume. It isn't working out well for you.
Fair enough, that ASS is U and ME as the little diddy goes.

This!

Not only did we get our clock cleaned versus Kentucky, UT had the lowest point total of the year versus Alabama. It was Missouri who had 19 points against Alabama. What is more puzzling are the rave reviews JG got for the game.

As mentioned Ole Miss put up 48.
Well, he was coming off 2 games where 3 of his turnovers were direct tds for the defense.
I guess it depends on what the gauge is.

Really Like this recruiting class yes short in some areas but we have a QB in Salter who has huge upside he is the type of QB that can in time lead us to championship Football. There is a reason Coaches are so excited. We need Stud TE in our O and we have really good ones in Wolfe, Campbell very underrated Roc Taylor who will be Hybrid TE H Back We also need the RB that makes things happen in the hole from a physical standpoint love Cody Brown.. We need playmakers at LB well Willis and Lewis and DE in Brooks and Evans at DT. Very good group of players needed next year to help this team as far as depth some will start remains to be seen. We also have several under rated Athletes that can become really good player down the road. In CHRIST Alone

Butch was i
UK hurt recruiting.

It has to get better but its not going unless results on Saturdays start changing. You reach a point where ideas are no longer a selling point. We re pretty much there.
Butch was in this position after year 3.. Kids got tired of his used car salesman pitch and we ended up with guys that should have played in the Sunbelt. Hope that doesn't happen with this guy. That's why i've always been reserved in saying guys deserve 5 years. You have to watch the recruiting trends. If it goes like Butch's did it's best to cut bait before you have to purge the roster like we just did.

Rick Barnes is the recruiting model that TN football has to follow. Coach up what you have in to stars, send them to the pros, and recruit based on your ability to develop. CJP and co have yet to really develop anyone that I’ve seen. Like it or not, UT isn’t a brand that sells to the top blue chips by itself anymore.

Has still gotta pick up. The Kentucky game was JG. If he would’ve started off the game well I believe we would’ve won. The team didn’t seem to give a crap after the first few possessions that he screwed up. That being said, I did watch all of UGA and highlights only of Bama. I wasn’t waisting my time watching the full game... We have got to get more talent on the team. We still do have not enough to compete with the elite teams in SEC. Thompson and taylor still aren’t getting it done at CB. And the d line is not good..... Need to bring in better players... Hate to say it, but we need another really really good class this year and continue the rebuild.... :(

Ole Miss put 48 points on the board vs Bama. I do not want to hear anymore excuses about talent. If people believe Ole Miss has more talent than UT they need psychiatric help.

they do at the most important 2 positions.... QB and OC and maybe RB.

Have you met our freshman and sophomores? By far the best players on the team in Pruitt’s first two full classes. 2017 was a rushed class and late hire. Like someone else said, this has always been a 5 year rebuild. 8-4 in year two isn’t too shabby, this year is yet to be determined.
We have some good freshman and sophomores but unfortunately Bama and UGA's are still better.

Ole Miss has two QB's who can produce points better than any of ours. Corall and Plumley both can run and throw hard to defend. When you are playing catchup with more talented teams, you need a QB who is hard to defend.JMO

Team Composite from last year.
80D73986-DAEE-41E6-B7DF-54DD6CCB2C3A.pngLooks like a coaching issue if you can’t even compete with Alabama and get blown out by FL, while Auburn beat Alabama.

The man might be empty in the morals department but Kiffin is still one of the best play callers in the business. All he does is put his players in the best positions for success.
His team is still the closest we have come to beating Bama

How can some teams look competent with walk on/3* QB but we cant do anything with multiple 4* QBs...

How come our OL that has 4 5* guys not take over games like every other line with that kind of talent?
They were rated 5 stars for there play in high school overpowering boys.
Those stars mean nothing in the college game.
Just something for fanatics to brag about.

What coach could get a team with our talent to compete with Kentucky?
I misread this, I originally thought you meant who could get our team to play with Bama. As far as guys who could truly do more with less, Steve Spurrier (he won the ACC at Duke), Lou Holtz, Bill Snyder, that would be my top 3.

You're absolutely right. It's just not anymore. That's why i've said for a while you're going to have to find someone really well respected to get this deal where everyone wants it.
