A point that often gets overlooked in projections of early playing time for the 2014 class is that returning starters will experience an "addition by subtraction" benefit. Butch commented early in the 2013 season on the inordinately high number of snaps that individual players, particularly on defense, had to play per game. He also hinted at the dire consequences of that unavoidable strategy. This year, the same players should be more effective and less prone to injury, simply because there are talented backups, albeit inexperienced and very young ones, who can effectively spell the upperclassmen.
