how much of a hit do we take for over recruiting.

Numbers are stacking up with grey shirts and Berry twins.

Hard to figure out.

3 to the 25 limit for next year per player over signed. We might over sign by 1 this year IMO

I've seen this penalty mentioned here before, but where is this information coming from? I've looked at both the SEC & NCAA bylaws pretty closely but have seen nothing mentioned about this.

We should get a waiver from penalties due to over signing... To fix the pit our last two coaches put us in. Plus Butch reintroduced us Into the SEC.

Well, there are all kinds of rules... technically I believe it's up to 28 but there is ways kind of around it. At the end of the day, the 85 man rule is really the line in the sand.

And no signing with a school does not guarantee a player anything in most instances until they are with the team. And no it does not guarantee a player will get 4 years.

The SEC's "soft cap" on initial counters is 25 between Dec. 1 and May 31, and the only wiggle room I know of has to do with how many mid-year enrollees you can back count.

Some fans like to say "the numbers will work themselves out," but there's considerably less latitude than there used to be to actually make it happen

top to bottom defensively this is the best class i can remember on paper defensively. theres a couple players that after watching hudl leave u scratching ur head as to why they arent five stars! tk2 is one.

simply put. as an old timer its been a long long time since ive been this excited about tennessee recruiting. we still have to close the big seven, and a rb.

if i was being picky. we need to get on a qb. but at this pt. def dont want to take one that isnt a 25 + scholly guy

Realistically, Mosley, Hendrix, Malone, a JUCO DT, and the Berry's are left. That is 31 if you take out Kameel Jackson. If Garrett or Jackson wanted to come or the right RB ir other DT, then you make room by grey shirting Dews.

If we don't exceed 85 instead of grey shirting could Dews be a preferred walk-0n

I am sure he has some other lower tier offers. I doubt he would ever consider that. I think Dews has a solid offer from us, whether its now or a grey shirt.

Our limit is 30 this year or is it 31?

John Brice said 31-32 on Nashville radio today. Said their only concern/calculation is how the number they wind up taking this year impacts the 2015 class which is already gonna be much smaller by comparison.

I say get while the gettins good, though he suggests they wanna balance out the two classes to some extent.

On one of the TSR shows this morning said our top number is 31. I think we finish with...

1-2. Berry twins.
3. Malone.
4. Hendrix.
5. Mosley.
6. Garrett.

If we manage a Suprise high 4/5* like adoree or someone. We can grey shirt dews or Em Mosely.

I wonder how much the announcement on Monday will effect recruiting. I know there are a few less than enamored with the idea but the same could have been said about our smokey gray uniforms. It's going to be the largest crowd ever to see a college football game. If you're a kid 16-18 years old I'm thinking it's going to be pretty big to be a part of history like that. That game could be a source of pride for not only this class but for at least the next couple classes as well.

Va Tech normally comes in around #25 in class rankings so it's most likely that they will be at a talent disadvantage against us. We'd be headed into our 4th season with this staff so stability in the program would have improved by leaps and bounds and consequently familiarity and experience with our schemes. We'll probably be returning at least 6 starters on each side of the ball from our 2015 National Championship team and the new guys will have been in the program for at least one full year and in most positions two years. With that in mind, my prediction is: UT 59 VA Tech 24. Tie breaker is announced attendance: 162,318.

I hate to be negative right now but I'm really starting to wonder if the Berry twins are looking at going somewhere else. I sure as hell hope not but it seems like they would have committed by now.
