Judging by a few other threads and our recruiting numbers, we seem to be recruiting hard in 4 areas. A couple of which is no surprise but the others seem to be slightly surprising.

RB: We have always been aware of the need of a 3rd RB in this class.

OL: We know we will take at least one more Ol if someone wants to come.

DL: We have been after a couple of DT's.

WR: This is the surprising one. We seem to be in on a couple big fish, besides Malone and this push seems fairly recent.

We have 29 spots in our class filled up. Judging by the way our coaches are recruiting we are seemingly going to take:

DT:2-3
RB:1
OL:1
WR:1-2

In addition to what we have.

Does anyone else find it interesting that our recruting targets seem to be growing instead of shrinking with our class so full? It seems odd especially with the recent push for Johnnie Dixon and with Adoree Jackson seeming to have the desire to play the slot as well.

Our staff is relentless in recruiting and they won't slow down. If they can land better players they will ask some current recruits to look around. Just part of the game if you want to win championships.

It is interesting, and I like this recruiting problem a lot better than the recruiting problems we've had in recent years.

i would love to have malone but would rather have a defensive end that really gets after the qb

This, or another run-stuffing DT that gets push toward the QB and collapses the pocket, a la that Auburn dude who's name's escaping me at the moment, from the Nat. Champ team.

Always good to keep recruiting in order to improve upon the class or in case key remaining targets (or a commit or two) go elsewhere.

Let's say CBJ et al. sign 5 more guys. Who (& in what pecking order) do you think would be the 4 guys asked to look elsewhere?

Joe Henderson and Dewayne Hendrix fit the bill nicely so far IMO. However, we are still in desperate need of a dynamic playmaker at WR. We evidently have only one on the roster at this point in North. Pearson will be great IMO but he's a JUCO... we need a 3-4 year player and Malone is it.

Nb4 anyone says Smith and/or Croom...just stop it. Pig and Johnson are good slots not WRs.

I am not sure WR is a surprise - when I watch the games instead of the rivals rankings of our WR I see a position that has killed us this year - that is why the staff has worked the juco ranks hard at WR and why they now are trying to land another dynamic player at that position - it is a huge position of need imo

So you don't think that Booth, Creamer, Pearson, and/or Wharton are the answer?

I agree. It just seemd odd with Malone still uncommitted that they added a couple of receivers to their board. But the others are more slot guys and not outside threats such as Malone.

encouragement for Malone to jump on board perhaps?

maybe backup plan in case he doesn't?

W/decommitment of Lauderdale and Kjackson we dont have a lot of WR's coming in

although a few of the athletes could go in that direction if needed i guess

I think he mean a freshman - lot of talk about creamer ending up on D - who knows?

Pearson is a juco

so that is 2 - not sure that wharton projects outside - so not a lot there for a traditional outside WR

While it's clear you don't like Smith and Croom.. Don't expect the board to just write off the abilities of a Freshman and a redshirt sophomore already just because you do..

Both of those guys have ~3 seasons left in the program. Plenty of time to make you eat crow.

I'm not saying that we don't need another playmaker at WR. In fact Malone would fit the bill nicely, although I think he ends up at uga. It just seems to me that there has to be an upgrade within this class (a few guys look elsewhere) or we take a playmaker at DL.

I like what Butch is doing. But will kicking out current commits for better players end up hurting us in the long run? (Other programs saying bad things about us)
