I don’t think the window has shut for them yet either, but they really screwed their chances over the last few seasons. The East is getting stronger so they won’t have the cakewalk of the past, and they finally draw Alabama in the West.
the challenges is sustainability.
i think most can get over not winning a national title every year, so long as you're one of the programs that is competing for divisions, conferences and playoff spots.....
i mean you litterally can't win them all...all the time for cryin' out loud. lol.
and if i were a UGA fan, i think sustainability would be my bigger concern. all things look good on the surface...but i think we all know that htere's some chinks in the armour below the surface. i think Kirby has made some questionable decisions with his staff, and i, like a lot of us, am not convinced he's a great game day/sideline head coach.
we'll see how it goes, but they got off to such a fast start with him at the helm, it almost feels like there was no place to go but down after year 2.
and while the last 5 years in particular for us have been tough to go thru, i think we're definitely in the middle of the journey "back". and from what it looks like, it's being built....and built the right way as far as i can tell.
so not knowing what the future hold, if for no other reason than that...simply how each staff has had to build the programs, i think Pruitt's version of TN ultimately may have a better shot at sustainability than Kirby's UGA....
and i don't know if that means either/neither win a national championship any time soon. i do think East division and SEC titles will be back on the talble for us sooner than later, and if we're doing that, then we'll see what happens about playoffs.
for now.......enjoying the ride.
