We're probably gonna need 3 or so 5* commits to stay in the top 5 by NSD, correct? Or am I looking at it wrong?

I think we could get away with two 5 stars to stay in the top 5 honestly. It just depends on how many of our last few are 4 stars.

Rivals Rankings based on How Far behind Tennessee other SEC Teams are Today (Just for Fun)

Observations:

1) Obviously a lot of these teams ain't going to catch us.

2) Vandy is reverting to their place.

3) Auburn isn't having a strong start. Of course, Butch is taking their recruits.

4) Probably not time to push the panic button if you are an Arkansas fan, but I'd make sure you know where it is and that it is all wired up and ready to go.

5) Kentucky will fall back to earth, but this will be a banner year (Kentucky-wise) if they can just hold on to current commits.

6) Obvioulsy, NSD is a long way off.

What Mike Farrell says: "This has been just an amazing job by Butch Jones and his staff to sell Tennessee as a viable SEC-contender. The hope for Vol fans would be that they close out strong and finish inside the Top 10. With a 3.4 average ranking I think that it is possible, too."

What the numbers say: Extrapolating the data points for this class, Tennessee has nowhere to go but down as the season moves on. If no team from outside of the current configuration of the Top 25 makes a major move, the Vols should be able to finish in the No. 10 spot. The numbers say that if the program does not add any more valuable commits and closes with just the 2,095 points that is currently has that would figure for a No. 14 finish. The math also indicates that at least eight teams from outside the Top 25 will make a run as the recruiting period closes. Therefore, it would not be a shock to see Tennessee at No. 14, even if it adds another four-star or two.

This is kind of what I figured. And that's fine. If CBJ is worth his salt as a coach, we'll start landing those elite linemen again etc next year. I'll be very content with a top 15 class at the end of the day.

Same here. I could see us at 12th in Rivals with a chance to get to the top 10 if some of our guys get a bump and we close strong with 4*s.

how do we have the same number of commits that Miami has, a better average than them, but we are behind them in points? maybe it hasn't updated completely yet.... I guess we might be #1

What 5 stars or potential 5 stars are UT in on going forward and how many commits are they planning to take in this class?

Just for reference if we had this class with no more additions last year, we'd currently he 12th on rivals between UGA and USCw. That number will continue to grow too.

It's been said we could take 30-31, depending on who you ask.

As for potential 5 star players, Adoree Jackson and Clifton Garrett are the only ones of which I'm aware...but Matt Elam and Damien Prince have both mentioned us at times, but I don't know that there's real interest there.

Of the four, I'd be happy to get one but dumbfounded if we got more than that.

EDIT: Also, of our current commits, Bates and Kelly, Jr. could be upgraded to 5 stars.

Hurd should be upgraded on Rivals to a 5* as well.
