Recruiting rankings thread

If I am not mistaken, up until a few days ago Scout had not yet rated Chris Weatherd. Now I see Scout has him at four stars and the Vol recruiting class ranked fourth. Meanwhile, ESPN has not rated JUCO players, not to mention Neiko Creammer who is a three star recruit according to Scout and Rivals.

If I recall correctly, ESPN began rating JUCO players last year. Does anyone recall when ESPN came out with those? Also, can we expect ESPN to finally rate Creamer at some point?

If ESPN came out today with ratings on our four recruits who they have not yet rated, our class shoots up to the top three there easily.

My post was outdated in two minutes. That's the way it is this year! We're number ONE with Scout now! We should be number one on ESPN if they would get their ratings done.

so now on Rivals, our next commits wont increase our points unless they are higher ranked than one of our current commits.

Edit:

I guess 1 more 3* would raise it because Dews is a 2.

Higher rated 3s would do it also.

ESPN is waiting for another school to jump past us before updating their Ratings so they don't have to put us #1 IMO. #theydontlikeusverymuchatall

Running the #'s, I see us finishing with around 30 recruits. That would give us roughly ~2200 Rivals Pts for our Top 20 recruits. Assuming some combination of 10 of these recruits below commit, I could see us finishing around 8th. Historically, ~2200 points over the previous 10 years, would avg 8th in final rankings. I believe we have a few current commits who get a bump in ratings which could push us around 5th. A top 8 class would be huge for us considering the past few years.

I think last year Rivals started using a new scoring formula. I'm not sure if it really changed the average points for each team ranking spot though.

Regardless of where we finish in the rankings, I am pleased with the players we are bring to the hill! It is a top class for me.

We're at 2095 right now. That's with a 2 star and a lot of 3 stars counting in our top 20.

Idk exactly how many points each is worth, but you'd think adding Jackson to replace Dews, would put us over 2200. Not to mention all the other 4 stars on that list.

Subtract 30 for Dews and add 150 for Jackson and 73 for #9 on Rivals 250. That’d be 2288.

Sort of. But I gotta warn you that it’s gonna take 3,000 points to try and win this thing. Since they changed to the brute force model they only reward you for having top 250 players. And they throw entirely too much weight behind the 5-stars.

For example, switching out Blair for Medley will get you 75 points. Swith Medley with, for instance, Damian Prince (the #10 player in the current 250) would give you 162 more points. If they were to replace all of the remaining non-4-stars (and above) with non-250-ranked 4-stars, then they would get somewhere in the 300-400 point bump. This year I predict that would barely get them in the top 10.

Not that top 10 on Rivals isn’t bad. It’s just easy to calculate what you need to get to keep pace. And since Rivals hates us, they won’t give us any players we have committed places in the top 250 (sarcasm).

This was just a starting point and an idea of where we could finish if we closed with around ~2200 points. (I started low as I was burned last year believing we would get a certain 5 star safety whose name I won't mention.)

Totally forgot rivals changed their rankings formula. Checking to see how it factors in.

Anything in the top 10 will be impressive, top 5 would be pretty amazing, and #1 class would make me name my firstborn Butch.
