Recruiting rankings thread

Looking at Rivals, only Bama has more 4 & 5* (19) than us (18).

Have we ever had this many 4/5 stars in one class in the age of 85 'ships?

Awesome day! Great class for CBJ. So LSU ended up jumping us in the rankings. I was told on here that was impossible. How did that happen?

Has anyone calculated total composite number of stars for each school.
For instance, if you look at bama on rivals, they have 100 total stars.
Bama 6x5* is 30* + 13x4* is 52* + 6x3* is 18. The total is 100 stars.
FSU also has 100 total stars.
3x5* + 13x4* + 11x3* is 100 total stars.
UT has 113 total stars.
2x5* + 16x4* + 13x3* is 113 total stars.
It removes the % crap, and number of recruits from the equation.
UT has the best recruiting class.
Bama and FSU are tied for 2nd, and then there is everyone else.

This could change but I tried to do an average on the four sites and came up with this for the top 10 classes:
1. Alabama = 1.0
2. LSU = 2.0
3. Fla. State = 3.5
4. Ohio St. = 4.5
5. TENNESSEE = 5.25
6. Texas A&M = 5.5
7. Auburn = 7.75
7. Florida = 7.75
9. Georgia = 9.25
10. Notre Dame = 9.5

Boom

The biggest joke is how some services don't count past a certain number of recruits like 20... How does that make any sense at all??

The rankings are such a joke.

There is a lot of sports talk chatter - that his might be Alabama best recruiting class in history. They do have a lot of high ranked kids. But, if you look at the big picture - total impact of the class of premium level 4 and 5 star recruits:
How many 4 and 5 stars does Alabama have? 18
How many 4 and 5 stars does Tennessee have? 17
:D

The jimmies and joes problem is about to be solved on the hill..

And usually any class in the top ten, especially in the top 5 could be somewhat interchangeable.. The trick is to be consistant with the classes.. And by the looks of the '15 class so far, we r in good hands again..

You're assuming that all 5*, 4*, and 3*'s are created equally. They aren't. Thus the discrepancy.

Anyway, it doesn't really matter at this point in time, does it? It matters in 3-4 years.

Yeah, that's on me. I've slacked. I plan to update those soon. Sorry.

I didn't mean to come off like that.. That sounded like a d I know. I imagine there is a lot to do. Poa and Ron have some time on their hands. You could put them on double secret pre mod probation and have them do menial tasks for years for Volnation's pleasure. Just an idea

Hey Freak ... Can you put links to the 2015 recruiting rankings on the OP?

The links to the 24/7, Rivals, and Scout team rankings are all listed in the OP of the '15 Commits/Targets thread if that helps.

I would like to see some of our 3* 's move up to 9* or 10*'s by the time they're are juniors or red shirt sophomores. Speaking of redshirts , its going to be interesting .

moved up 2 spots to 6th with Jenning's committment. Rivals hasn't updated yet

1
Alabama Alabama 9 1 7 1 93.80 191.51
2
Texas A&M Texas A&M 9 1 7 1 93.57 188.75
3
Penn State Penn State 11 0 8 3 90.05 187.15
4 LSU LSU 9 2 3 3 89.97 164.77
5 Florida State Florida State 9 1 3 5 89.79 160.18
6 Tennessee Tennessee 10 0 4 5 87.88 158.77

formatting is bad, but there is 247's current rankings

Here's my question...Does anyone know how you actually get Stars? Is it camps?Offers? or some guy that works at whatever scouting service that is based on opinion?! Like is there a system in place that helps rank kids?

Camps, offers, film, measurables, potential, competition, etc. It isn't an exact science and there is no right way to do it, but it's the best we've got.
