It it time to start calling out the recruiting ranking services for what appears to be biased and phony rankings?

Marlin Lane is a great example. Rivals had him around 50 all season as long as he was committed to Clemson then completely dropped him out of the 250 when he was dropped by Clemson and started looking at UT. I know that they claim that his injury was their reason for the slide, but he was injured in the previous season and was effected by the injury before the 2010 season even started.

Another example is Pat Martin who still holds his 4 star but has dropped in the rankings. I guess they are concerned that he will be sticking with UT and will now make it in academically.

It is interesting to me that once a player starts talking UT that they take a hit in the rankings. And it appears that some of our Georgia commits are vastly underrated. We also hear that if players do not give interviews that they are penalized by the services.

IMO this is a huge indictment of the star system and its fallacies. Where is the credibility and I am beginning to question why anyone would pay for such services. They answer to no one and create their own aura of talent of high school football talent. I know that it it not an exact science but hey, it is time to call them out when you see such obvious bias.

I have noticed it too, but who cares? It's about how they produce on the gridiron.

Look out there are black Helicopters flying around your house, Masked men are in your bushes. They are coming to get you for uncovering this large conspiracy against UT. The man is holding us back, They are only going to let UT have 2 and 3 * recuits.

I would go in to witness protection if I were you.

ESPN, Rivals, SEC, NCAA High School Coaches, Fox Sports, CBS Sports. They are all against UT.

Man These threads are getting Old hearing how everyone is against us.

It can't be.......they are dropping our players in the rankings. Now we have no chance of these players being any good.

Such concern about nothing. How did the coaches recruit before there was a star system. Have they suddenly become so dumb that they can not evaluate talent on their own?

If you really think about what you are saying and if it were indeed true, this would be the best thing for us. We just need to learn how to get the guys committed before they are ranked. That way we could have a whole class of five star players and they would only be ranked as 3 and 4 stars. That way other schools won't be near as interested in them. Or, if it really means that much to you and you truly believe these stars make the players better on the field, you could always open your own recruiting service and rank all of our commits as five stars so we could have the number one class.

They have been actinh kinda strange of late. Just last night ESPN had Clear listed with 0*, but Rivals has him listed as a 4*. How can they be so far apart?

Laugh all you want. Brian Randolph being denied a 4th star is a joke and you know it. Kids one of the best in the country. It's not an anti UT bias though it's just shoddy work. Jordan Williams is another example.

I find it very hard to believe that a recruit coming to us over Clemson makes Rivals drop his rating. Forgive me if I sound clueless because I haven't been following the situation, but maybe the reason Clemson dropped him was the same reason his rating dropped. Is there still any concern about his leg?

Kids might like to commit to programs that get them ranked higher to build them up . Kinda like a little push out of the chute toward the NFL watch lists...Jmo

Just pick the service that has our recruits ranked the highest and like them! That way we get high star rankings.

All of Rival's best talent evaluators have been hired away by ESPN and 247 sports over the last 2 seasons and rivals hasn't been able to replace them.

1. ESPN's recruiting service sucks.

2. Matt Milton, Michael Taylor, Markeith Ambles, Justin Coleman, and AJ Johnson all added a star AFTER committing to Tennessee. And that's just in the 2010 and 2011 classes, plus I think I'm forgetting someone. Yeah, all the services and ESPN in general hate us.
