Yesterday on the CLK show, coach Kiff said we need speed, we need to get quicker, faster athletes. We dont have a RB signed yet and there is a kid, Dejor Simmons outta Va. Beach thats has 4.3 speed. He's 5'8 with crazy speed like Demps outta Florida. He has us on his list of schools with medium interest but we havent offered. Anyone else think this kid would be a nice fit?

Sure. Sounds good so far, but keep in mind that speed is a constant message from CLK and Monte. Monte has always felt that speed is where a defense makes it. So it may have been a more general statement that we are always trying to get speed in the players we feel we have needs for that year. I thought it was funny how he said we needed better players, apologized to his current players and then said we need speed. (not quoted just clift notes)

Thats kinda the way I took it too, just thought with no RB committed this class, would be nice to have a small speed demon that could get outside the tackles and hit paydirt!

True but if you listen to Sabanocchio on here, he says we expect to land one of the top three (seems Dyer is more solid to Auburn than first thought). Do you think of him with Reggie Bush size and ability? So Lendale and Reggie with Bryce or David and this kid?

have a source from here in SC that says Lattimore is pretty much like a brother with Willis and Miller! so if Sab predicted one of the top 3 rb will be in orange it could be Lattimore

I was leaning with that but not getting too overly optimistic. He would be a fantastic asset and they are two great recruits too.

I wish he would commit and then try and help recruit like his team mates have. He would be able to sway some of the OLs we desperately need.

yeah they are!! the person that told me this is VERY close to them all(read into that very)!! wouldnt surprise me a bit if Lattimore is wearing orange next yr with the way he was talking......

With our staff, I know we will have the best opportunity to land him. If you learn anything more, feel free to let me know. Love this recruiting process. I am in management but it is the recruiter in me.

will do!! and yes he likes carolina bc its close to home but this person really thinks UT is a sleeper bc of Willis and Miller!!

I would LOVE to have Lattimore and BB in the same backfield, just not sure how high he is on UT. I know he is close with Willis and Miller but if they had that much of an influence, I would think he would already at least be a soft verbal. My reasoning on this Simmons kid is for some reason, these kids under 6'0 with 4.3 speed seem to be game changers. I think BB is gonna be a beast after a full season under his belt and he is 100% healthy! Also he will be the main back with Montario graduating. I could see BB running thru tackles and this kid getting outside the tackles, it would make opposing defenses have to work that much harder IMO.

i agree totally, BB will be a beast next year! We will see about Lattimore, i personally think he will be at USCjr bt the person i talked to thinks UT has a legit shot bc of the other two being so close! USCjr also signed another byrnes stand WR jones, but signed him as a RB..............hummmmm

Another plus for a burner like this would be on kickoffs. Get him passed the first line of defenders and he's gone.

Wrong...Jones is a wr and will play slot for them. He is also Lattimore's closest friend.
