Lady Vols look at Shot blocker

Tennessee is pursuing a Class of 2016 recruit who has a record history for shot blocking.

Kamera Harris, a 6-foot-3 post player from Hampton, Ga., attended the Lady Vols' SEC tournament game against Texas A&M on Friday in Jacksonville, Fla. While playing for Dutchtown High, Harris set a national single-game record in 2014 with 28 blocks in a game.

The Lady Vols have yet to sign anyone for next season. They want to add at least one player this spring.

Watching her video she appears to be very mobile and quick with her feet. If she can develop into an offensive threat at the next level would be great. Her rebounding would be a huge plus. I like what I see.

I was also impressed! I think we could use a rim protector (since Russell seems to not want to be and since Holly seems to not want Nia to play more than 6 minutes a game). Right now we could use her shot blocking and rebounding ability. She looks long and agile, if she can get us a few offensive put backs a game that would be huge. Her along with the 6'4" girl Emily from Tennessee would be decent additions to a coaching staff who stuck out on the top tier post players. Would prefer to see another coaching staff develop them though because playing for Holly they might not even see the floor.

There is a reason why 6'3 and 6'4 post players are still available and of course we would be going after them

Harris isn't that good of an offensive player but I can take that especially on a team that doesn't have a player who wants to throw her body around in the paint with adequate size (Graves is willing to but is undersize height wise, Moore is willing to but is undersized weight wise and Russell seems to refuse to/isn't interested in banging on the block). Not everyone comes into a Top 10 program as a 5 star recruit. Players need to be develop (that is the purpose of assistant coaches) you have to find that diamond in a rough (Alberta Auguste, Shannon Bobbit) and work with them/make them stars within your program.

Bobbitt was not a diamond in the rough. She was highly regarded coming out of HS but couldn't make the test score so she went JUCO.

UCONN had a player for a few years, Kiah Stokes who was very offensive minded in HS, but that didn't translate to the college level. She became a defensive stopper and changed the game as she came off the bench. She was drafted by NY Liberty and is playing in Korea.
This lady, should she be recruited by TN, could probably be an asset similar to Kiah. However, I believe TN needs PG that can direct an "offense", play defense, score and PASS the ball. I know Graves will be gone, but PG is higher priority, JMHO.

43 percent would be the third best shooter on our team. If she could rebound, get a few putbacks, and protect the rim would be a good player for us.

Was she on our radar coming out of High School? Were we interested until we saw she didn't have the test scores? I don't remember there being talk that we were on her list of schools when she was looking at colleges

I think she had decided on Rutgers the first go around but didn't make the scores. After JC Rutgers still wanted her but she chose us over them and it turned out to be a fantastic moment for us. I remember that last game we played UConn when we beat them on their home floor she made four threes in that game and outplayed Montgomery.
I wish we had a Bobbitt on the radar now.
I bet Vivian Stringers really felt the pain in the National title game when Bobbitt was stroking those threes on her and we won the National title. I bet she was thinking she was supposed to be my player.

Jolette Law was on her staff then and Jolette has coach some of Rutgers top guards which makes me question whether or not Holly is allowing her to truly coach the players up! Te'a could be that type of player for us imo if Holly would stop handcuffing her (along with a couple other players)

That many blocks is akin to Griner type numbers I if it translates then she would be an amazing addition

She will get us more possession with her presence defense and the boards, if we can get her, sign her, she need to be serviceable and be able to bang. We need more fouls in the post too. ijs

Yes, a guard or wing, who can play basketball would be nice, a diamond in the rough, Juco, we aint gone win no big games with these guards, look at our record.

Reynolds and Carter to me is time up, they would be subs getting the least minutes as possible, they would have to be efficient in those limited minutes to earn more playing time, they must be lights out in practice, Holly no more favorites, production, what have you done for me lately?

I see why Diamond was spacing out, she playing with players with no b ball iq and who can't pass the ball without picking up their dribble or dribbling with their head down, without their eyes up to find easy baskets, or open players and then we do get 2-5 feet from the basket; it's a thud, a brick, the worse guards in the history of the program. So, yes more guards and wings, we have room.

If Izzy was on this team, and she was playing behind her, she would be lights out. Izzy brought it, someone to show her, how to play Lady Vols basketball, please keep coming back Izzy and Glory!

Kamera's motor, bbiq, and and she tends to play high are the biggest concerns, but with good strength and conditioning program she can be serviceable player, and won't be liability defending the 4 or 5 spot in the post.

Sub-40% shooters don't generally make the HS All-America team, which over half of our present players were on.

What makes Kamera's shooting particularly alarming is the fact that she's a 6'3" post player, not a perimeter player who shoots a lot of 3's....

+100000000....I most definitely agree about Carter and Reynolds. They are the reason why I would love to see more of Cooper, Middleton, and Jackson at the guard rotation than those two. To hell with them being young! Carter and Reynolds have brought very little to this team this year and good guard play is a must in order to compete for National Championships. Alexa, Tea, and Meme at least LOOK to attack open gaps and score. Those 3 are young but anyone with basketball eyes can tell they possess better guard skills than Reynolds and Carter. The only thing they lack is experience.
