Recruiting in Tennessee

I'm stating the fact's we are competing with Bama, FL, S.Carolina, UGA, Auburn, LSU who have a lot deeper talent pools than the state of TN. Because Tennessee has a limited amount of "top rated" prospects each year we should be signing 90% of them. If you perceived that I didn't do my homework before I posted you Sir are incorrect. Here are some of the guys that the VOLs needed that chose to go out-of-state. By elite I mean in terms of recruiting ranking, measurables, and position need. We Have TWO of 22 starters from the state of TN.

Before Dooley
-Marlon Brown WR (UGA Starter)
-Derrick Webb LB (Colorado Starter)
-Barrett Jones OL (Bama all-american)
-Donta Hightower LB (Bama all-american)
-Dontari Poe DL (Memphis 1st rd pick)
-David Spurlock-OL (4 year starter FL state)
-Michael McAdoo(plays for Baltimore Ravens, DL)
-Tenarius Wright(Starter LB for Ark)
-Randell Cobb (biggest miss in UT recruiting, 2nd rd pick)

Last two years

-I'Tavius Mathers,4* (back-to-back 2000yd seasons Ole Miss)
-Mark Dodson 4* (MVP at Nike Combine Memphis Ole Miss)
-Jovon Robinson, 4* (every down type RB UT needs (Auburn)
-Jordan Wilkins, 4* (best RB prospect to come from TN in years 210lbs 4.4fourty Auburn)
-Brian Kimbrow, 4* (C.Rainey&J.Demps style 4.3fourty on lazers Vanderbilt)
-Jalen Ramsey, 4* (Shut-down CB MVP of multiple National Camps USC)
-Frank Heron, DE 4* (good addition to our 3-4 or 4-3 LSU)
-Graham Shuler, 4* (OL Top OL at U.S. Army game Stanford)
-Sheldon Dawson 3* (ATH 4.4fourty CB or RB UGA)
-Will Redmond, 4* (ATH Miss St. would add depth at CB or WR)

I understand that we will not get every prospect, but there is no reason that the VOLS should have this many misses on elite prospects. I think we did a good job in 2010&2011, but take a look for yourself. Do you think Saban, Richt, Spurrier, L.Miles, or W.Muschamp would let this happen? I am in full support of D.Dooley and I don't think he will be fired.

I agree with everything that was said on this post! And,all you guys that think that nothing wrong with this pattern is in denial that a problem is rearing its ugly head. I think we will win this year and we can get a little more of a handle on the estate battle for recruits.

The Memphis kids are instate but not instate. There are many sec schools closer than UT. Northern Georgia is easier to pull from than West Tennessee.
I don't buy that one bit. We have to do a better job than Georgia, Ole Miss, Kentucky,Bama and whoever else is closer to Memphis than us.

We just lost a damn good DB to USCw to all people. I wish the young man well, but we can't afford to lose talented young people to everyone else. This Kid is going to start and do well and I am one of those guys lets over recruit a position if the kid is in our state
