I noticed that some of the top recruits in Tennessee have committed to other schools. I know it’s early in the process I feel like we are going to have a good class. But I really would like to see them at Tennessee. What are your thought’s?

Sir, I feel kind of bad cause you are going to catch some serious grief on this one as this topic has been discussed ad nauseum already.

But, I like giving grief too, so.....

I get so sick of seeing this type of thread and the Dooley "hot seat" thread. How many more times we gonna beat the hell outta this dead horse?

For some reason we cannot get the top guys in our state. We have had a need at RB and several elite RB's have been in-state but have gone elsewhere (2 to Auburn & 2 to Ole Miss).

Oh, you mean like James Stone (2010), Cam Clear and Antonio Richarson (2011), and Drae Bowles (2012)?

Each was the top in-state recruit for their respective year. Drae Bowles was #2 behind Chad Voytik in 2012. I think that's an exception.

Not picking on you, but also, who are these "elite RBs" you're speaking about? We know exactly why we didn't take Kimbrow, and he hasn't even played a down in CFB. The same can be said for Jovon Robinson and I'Tavius Mathers. Neither have played a down in CFB. Calling them elite is very debatable.

Moreover, since we hired CJG, we've been recruiting the type of RBs that we should expect to recruit, the elite ones, namely, Dye, Tenpenny, Henry, D. Green, etc.

You are absolutely correct, we can't get the top guys in our own state......

I like turtles.

Tennessee doesn't produce as many top talents as the surrounding states. Always taking the "hometown" kid isn't going to win you games if you can get a better prospect.

Saw a report that Henry was here few days ago and TN is moving up on his list cause of the visit.

If TN gets him don't mind giving up a few in-state to other schools.

We get most of the ones we WANT. A few that we really wanted get away, but that's always going to be the case.
