Read this on another board and was very surprised. From a UGA fan.

You guys should really hit GA this year- I don't think we've offered many and guys like Ambles, J. Thompson, and Tai-ler Jones probably won't be offered. Farrell reported that Ambles was close to an offer, but that wasn't quite right. Ambles tried to set up a meeting with Richt to discuss the mystery incident, but he didn't make it over. I think the issue with Ambles is that he may not be admitted. UGA will again be taking somewhere between 15-20 so they have a limited number of schollies. I do know that the feel is that Goodwin and Whittaker will commit, it is just a matter of time. Garrison Smith was close to committing when he got his offer, but is going to look around. I don't know if we ever offer McCoy. Vogler will probably be Gator. Johnson is probably going to end up on the LSU list sooner than later. Thompson is a good strong back, but I think UGA is going for broke with Mack Brown in GA. The bottom line is that a lot of players are going to be leaving the state of GA this year that UGA will never really be involved with. Right now, the team that has themselves in the best position is probably Alabama. They are being mentioned by everyone. Tennessee will be in there, but the season they have will be big, especially from a QB standpoint.

Bobby S. always says goofy things like that.

BTW what happened to the Paul Johnson/Aycock thread?

There are a lot of prospects in Georgia and I really believe that UGA will sign less than ten of them as we seem to be focused on out of state guys more than ever.

Richt resembles Fulmer more and more every day

please start neglecting in-state recruiting Richt, please do!

Nothing would make me happier than to see us get back in to being able to recruit the Atlanta metro area.

to me he's the sequel to Tommy Tuberville. both never live up to expectations.

I guess if Arkansas doesn't fumble late, then Fulmer's career would've been even more similar to Richt's.

Richt is the quintessential good guy that never quite performs as well as he should. he does remind me of phil in that he does less with more than anyone I have ever seen

The good news is I think that's already happening. There's a lot of talent in GA and it seems we're tapping into it quite well.

But more is also welcome. :)

His loyalty to unqualified staff (think Willie Martinez) definitely reminds me of Fulmer.

Kiffins thoughts:

"F@#$ it if we cant put a fence up around Tennessee we will put one up around Georgia"

That gave me the old man laugh. The half-cough/half-laugh. It seems everyone's playing musical chairs with us pursuing GA & AL guys like crazy and Nick Saban only concerned with Memphis.

Their records are pretty similar too.

Richt (82-22) 2 SEC Championships
Fulmer(First 8 years) (80-18) 2 SEC Championships 1 NC
If you add the 4 games Fulmer coached in '92 (84-18)

I was going to say: what about less myles?, until I saw the "quintessential good guy" part.

If Richt's following Fulmers path, the next 8 years will be slowly declining.
