Here on Volnation, we can be hard on the players, the coaches, and each other. Years of losing for a proud program can do that to a fan base. Tonight, let's give credit where it is due.

1. Mike Bajakian:
Probably the first coach most fans would ship out, if they had their hair trigger way. Sure, there have been some questionable calls throughout the year, and entire quarters of ineptitude, but tonight, we amassed 645 yards of offense on and SEC defense. Darr only punted 3 times. Well done, Bajakian.

2. Offensive Line: After the Oklahoma game, I said this group would get stronger with each game. Actually, they appeared to get worse, until Dobbs stepped into the game against Bama. Tonight, we rushed for 344 glorious yards, and if I recall correctly, no sacks for Dobbs. That doesn't happen without good OL play. Aside from a couple of false-starts, a downfield lineman call on Crowder on what should have been a TD to Jenkins, I spent most of my time ignoring the OL... which is the best you could hope for.

3. Jason Croom: Sure, it wasn't the hardest catch, but not much matches the game TD catch with seconds left on the clock. Enjoy it... revel in it.

4. Aaron Medley: He's had a great year outside of a couple of misses to begin the season, but two misses in regulation, when either one would have won the game, is a heavy burden. In OT, Butch trusted him, yet again, and he stepped up and delivered.

5. Pig Howard: Sometimes, he seems like an afterthought in the offense. Tonight, he had his best game since the crushing UGA game last season. He was explosive and dependable, putting up 109 yards receiving and running for another 29 + a TD.

6. TN Defense: There was not much that was great about our defense tonight. We gave up huge plays, had breakdowns, and just overall, looked bad. Don't be fooled though, USC has a great offense, and it showed. When the game was on the line in OT, Curt Maggitt and Derek Barnett became unstoppable, taking 15 yards away from the Gamecocks on consecutive sacks. They played angry... like an old man returning soup at a deli. (Some of you will get the reference)

This win doesn't have the sexiness of beating a top 10 USC team last season, but in the context of THIS season, it was huge. The Vols needed a road win against an SEC team not named Vandy in a bad way. No matter how bad the Vols have been, most people in the college football world expect TN to beat KY and Vandy regularly, if not annually. That cannot be said of any other SEC foe.

This SHOULD be the turning point for this program. Two of the next three games are wins, and we just might get Mizzou as well. The biggest question mark for next year was QB, and that is a question that Dobbs is answering emphatically. Regular victories over Vandy, KY, and USC are the first to come. The next step will be stealing those games against Mizzou, UGA, FL, and the rotating west opponents. After that, we set our sights on Bama.

The future is bright.:hi:

SIAP, but Fortenberry posted a picture on Twitter that TN only had 10 men on the field for Wilds 70 yd TD run....and TN still ended up winning!!! haha

Dont know what to say, except WOW! Thought it was over after Dobbs threw the INT. So proud of these kids and their no-quit attitude. It finally paid off with a huge road SEC win.

I think we will look back and say "that comeback win against USCe on the road on Nov 1, 2014 was the turning point for this program." Ladies and gentlemen, I think we are in the way.. FINALLY! Now, let's rest up and win out!

Agreed 100%. This game knocked the Dooley out of me- it's clear the Dooley is out of this team. I was at the game and left with my wife with 5 minutes to go to "beat traffic." Fortunately we caught up with some Vol fans and watched the end in the parking lot.

My wife was furious with me for leaving and rightfully so. This team doesn't quit under CBJ and I no longer will either. Amazing win!

I expect big things next year. Really, really big things

I don't care what you say flowd, Barnett is at least = Clowney.
You obviously have trouble with reading comprehension. Or you are just too stubborn to admit you made an incorrect statement.

You made the comment after UT's win against Chattanooga that Barnett already has better statistics than Clowney did as a freshman.

I simply commented back and said that was incorrect. At that point, Barnett had only 1 sack through UT's first 6 games. Clowney had 4 sacks and 3 forced fumbles through the first 6 games of his freshman year. The point really isn't even up for debate. Statistics are what they are. It was and still is very clear that Clowney had better statistics through that point in their careers than Barnett did.

I even added to my comment that I thought Barnett was a beast of a player and there was plenty of time left in the season for him to add on to his statistical totals. And that I really hoped he did turn it on the second half of the season and pass Clowney's production output.

Naturally, you had no response to me after I civilly disagreed with your claim.

Here we are three weeks later after Barnett records 6 sacks over the course of the last 3 games and you scurry back to post this.

It comes across as pretty immature and childish. You were wrong. Period. Barnett tearing it up these last 3 weeks is completely inconsequential to the inaccuracy of your initial statement.

I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Sound pretty defensive, IMO.

Rofl man, chill out. That was a joke. All your points the first go around were valid, and if you didn't "naturally" have selective memory, you'd remember that I completely agreed with you and said you were right after you posted those points against my statement last time. I literally conceded the argument explicitly and completely. You were obviously insecure about your correctness or you wouldn't have felt the need to post an essay bashing me for a joke.

Edit disregard if you missed my agreeing with you. Your response would be slightly more appropriate if I hadn't agreed with you and was coming back saying "see I was right you were wrong." you're not usually one to fly off the handle on here, so I guess I should give you benefit of the doubt.
