There are 2 concerns for me vs Mizzou: 1st - Randolph NOT playing the 1st half will be critical for TK and McNeil to NOT miss assignments because you better believe they are drawing up crossing routes to confuse our 2 safeties as we speak. 2nd: Bynum has been here 2 full years, so he should not have any excuses as to what he is expected to do, but I do think Jacob Johnson gets more playing time at the MIKE but how effective and confused he will be is the question: Mizzou coaches are not stupid and they will attack wherever they think they can cause confusion. BTW, Mizzou RBs are very HARD to tackle in space so I hope our defense tackles w/ their heads up cause they are very SHIFTY and ELUSIVE......

With their speed we could really use bates right now. If we had him and jrm back there together id feel fine because their speed could cancel out some of the youth but bynum and jj scare me a little

I think our offense faces a defense that can make us struggle Saturday. They got to see Dobbs firsthand for 60 mins last year.

With A.J. probably out Saturday, and Randolph out the 1st half, I think it really depletes all of the momentum that we've built up to this point.

I think we come out slow and unenergized. Run game is stagnant. Passing game struggles to get into a rhythm.

I think Mizzou wins 27-20.

FWIW, there have been 4 common opponents.

....................Tennessee.............. Missouri

Georgia.............32-35....................0-34
Florida................9-10...................42-13
USC..................45-42...................21-20
(Y)UK................50-16...................20-10

Hmmm... Looking at the last 2 games with Dobbs, looks like Vols by anywhere from 2 to 24.

IMO 27-13 Orange.

I was thinking 27-13 until the potential bad news coming out today. Now I'm more like 27-20.

If we lose to Mizzou, beat Vandy, then lose a bowl game and end up 6-7 it will just be another losing year to pile onto our miserable bad times. But if we beat Mizzou and Vandy, end up 500 in the SEC, then win or lose our bowl game and this year is a success. This game is huge IMO. I'm glad they beat A&M and I hope we make a statement at their expense.

Luckily the game is at Neyland instead of in space :)

Missing our team leader makes me question this one.

It's a close game either way; within a TD.

Horrible timing.. Really hope AJ and Mike are innocent. And really hope nothing happened to that girl. It's senior week and what AJ and the few seniors were looking forward to. One last game in Neyland and beating a ranked team. Hope this doesn't kill the momentum we're having. I see MO taking advantage of a inexperience MLB and TKjr. the first half. If the offense scores at will it won't be too bad. Getting Randolph back will help. This will be a big mental challenge if AJ does not play. Maggit and the defense really has to step up and Butch has got to keep the focus on winning. It'll be a closer game now, but still believe the Vols can win this. Neyland has to be electric Sat. night...

Not taking this trail of tears along with the rest of you.........38 - 17 UT!

Losing AJ does NOT change the dynamics of the team THAT much.

Our offense will score points against Mizzou. Why wouldn't they. With the exception of the Florida game, we've scored against everyone. Mizzou's D isn't better than Georgia's.

Our Defensive Ends are the key to our defense this year, not the MLB spot. Not trying to take away from AJ or what he has done this year, but a lot of what he has accomplished has been due to the defensive ends doing their job......unlike in the past few years. We have hard hitters with speed on the bench, all we really need is someone captain the defense. All JMO of course (and of course, I'm drinking)

So why all of a sudden will our offense be stagnant? Is Mizzou defense better than Bama. Hell Florida moved the ball on them. They are about to get blasted Saturday.

That's what I'm talking about! If Dobbs starts the Bama game, we are right there with them in the 4th with a chance to win.

I think Ray and Golden will cause problems. Bama didn't have anybody like Ray on the DL. Mizzou's run defense has gotten a lot better since the year has gone on. They were giving up 100 yds rushing to guys out of South Dakota St and Toledo.

Ralph Webb for Vandy barely had 2 ypc. Nobody from UF sniffed 100 yds. Carson ran good last week, but he still didn't get 100 yds.

If I'm Mizzou, I take away the run game and force Dobbs to stay in the pocket and beat me with his arm.

Pinkel is just a really good coach. He finds ways to win. We aren't going to blow these guys out like some are predicting. This will be a 60 minute ball game.

Mauk is trash, but Murphy and Hansbrough will carry them.

Florida got down by a lot early that game didn't they? thought they pretty much abandoned the run after halftime. and Vandy is... well... Vandy. Maybe those numbers are a tad skewed? JMO

How did they do stopping the run against UGA?

Bynum and JJ split first team reps at MLB today.

I will not be surprised if we spend most of this game in the nickel and neither one of them are on the field. Getting a lead early will make this much easier to do. That would be huge for our defense.

Chubb had 38 carries for 143 yards. (3.8 ypc)

Mizzou's rushing D looks like something right between Florida's and Georgia's.. and we rushed for 28 yards and 117 yards against them. So, would be fair to assume we could rush for about 70 yards against Mizzou (which averages 141 rush YPG allowed)

But that was BC (Before Coleman's injury) and this is AD (After Dobbs).

Why we do better? Sack yardage accounts for rushing yard numbers. We have a more effective run game with a mobile QB, hence less chance of giving up yards from sacks.

Florida sacked us for 49 yards (6 sacks!) and Georgia sacked us for 31 yards (3 sacks). We actually ran for 77 yards on Florida and 148 on UGA on called running plays, just under their SECe averages. Mizzou's rush yds allowed numbers is padded quite a bit because they have tons of sack yardage (~29 YPG). Remove that and SECe teams have effectively run on them to a tune of 170 YPG!

Couple our surging run game with the potential sack shortage.. I say we smoke those kitties on the ground close to their average 140 YPG allowed...

Close game early, then Vols pull away. I don't think these guys can stop our offense for four quarters if we avoid injury and stay committed to the run.

35-21 good guys.

Also there is no sense in considering any preDobbs offensive stats. We are a completely different team with him at the helm. We are running the ball better now than we have in a very long time.

Watching Finebaum, it's obvious the press think we will run over Mizzou (as will Arkansas)

Personally, I am worried about the loss of AJ and Williams and what it does to our team emotionally plus the actually lack of their presence on the field. I really liked our defense and the way it was clicking. On the other side, Dobbs definitely has rejuvenated our offense, but we have had some injuries on our line during the last game.

So (unlike others) I don't think Mizzou will be a cake walk by any means. I am cautiously optimistic...
