The Haslam's selling Pilot to Warren Buffett today explains why they aren't focused on the coaching change. They have been working on a massive, multi-billion dollar transaction whereby they are selling the majority stake in the company they've built from the ground up over the last 60 years.

Unfortunately for the UTAD, Butch's collapsed has come at a very inopportune time.
Good news is that the Haslam's are about to have an even greater influx of cash.
Reading who I assume is their major beat writer, he doesn't think he'd turn down Tennessee. Calls it a destination job for someone like Frost who came of age in the 90's.
No, he's not going to quit and he has to speak. But he could have taken a proactive stance. How about "We're committed to winning and that's going to require some changes. We're shaking things up and trying some new things to get going in a more positive direction. We're open to anything that can help us win."
Positive change starts with actually changing things that aren't working. Staying the course has netted 6 embarrassing SEC losses out of the last 8 SEC games. That's a 25% SEC win % in the last year. Does anybody have confidence in staying the course?
I think he knows that and accepts it's part of the job. But everyone's human and even if you know in your head it's expected and part of the job it's hard to separate that and keep it from affecting him.
Coaches have a better gig than most, but regardless of what you do constant personal and professional shots are gonna effect you and your family so I do have a tiny bit of sympathy for him.
I'd probably be cool with Frost if we can't pull one of the top guys. The turnaround they've had down there doesn't seem flukey at all.
He's had quite the career to be so young. Played for Bill Walsh, Tom Osborne, Bill Parcells and Bill Belichick. Coached both on offense and defense. Won a national championship at QB with Nebraska but played Safety in the NFL.
Tennessee is a better job than Nebraska but if we hired him I'd at least be a little concerned that he'd always have the Huskers in the back of his mind. We'd have to slap a pretty serious buyout on him.
You keep mentioning Fuentes but why on Earth would he leave VT to come to UT? He just got there and while UT would be a step up it wouldn't be a huge one, certainly not enough to risk a place that will put up with you for ages for our rabid fanbase.
The 2009 version of myself is shocked that the guy with the funny name who just got arrested for breaking into some woman's house in his underwear could potentially be our next head coach.
My only glimpse of hope lies in the fact none of us know how Currie will respond
