Butch will find a job as a head coach somewhere. But it will probably be a massive step down.

Butch helped get us out of the hell hole dug by Mike Hamilton, Lane Kiffin and Derek Dooley. But now that we are back to winning over 50 percent of our games, we realize that the Tennessee that we all knew and loved did not lose always lose to Bama, Georgia and Florida. With Kirby taking the Bulldogs up another notch, we need to take the next step to get back to the Tennessee of old.

You can defend Butch Jones however you want. I think that while he has done an admirable job at recruiting and elevating APR, his significant shortcomings as a gameday coach, a developer and motivator of talent and a manager of personnel has put UT in a bad position at a critical juncture. I think he's a liability and is becoming a bigger one every week. You don't have to agree.

Question I have and just brought up to a fellow vol fan......

If Butch had won the East last year or at least beat Vandy and made it to the sugar bowl is he on this hot of a seat. Before the season most fans said this was a rebuilding year. Yes losing to UF and UGA sucks but if Butch wins out and goes 8-4 he will be in line with preseason predictions. Maybe the media is right and TN fans are a bit unrealistic. The offense is struggling but we only have experince at one position the o line. I mean FSU is in the same boat they lost their starting qb and they look anemic against bad teams as well.

I said all that to say this. Hell no to Frost, Campbell,Mullen or any other mid tier coach. There are only two things that should get Butch fired a losing season or if you can get a homerun higher like a Kelly or Gruden.

If Butch needed to get fired it should have been last year for not meeting expectations not after a rebuilding year if he meets expectations. The AD made their bed by sticking with Butch after last year so they need to ride this out and see what happens, and I think fans just need to take a step back and realize that this is what fans were expecting before the season and quit with all these knee jerk reactions

It's not simply been the LOSSES. It's the lifelessness of the team. Bama was actually the most pluck we've seen since Florida. Butch has lost the team.

No, the Butch experiment had run its course. It's obvious he'll never get it done here and it's time to move on.

Even if it means we don't get a proven name.

Not to mention the record breaking loss to Georgia. The only reason it didn't happen with Bama is because Saban took out the starters in the third quarter. (I guess either he felt bad for him, or Butch didn't scream, "give me some of that" like Mason did)

You just conflicted yourself you said he lost the team then you said they fought against Bama.If the team is fighting against the #1 team in the nation for a coach on the hot seat he has not lost the team. But again if he goes 8-4 he met expectations and has pulled off and upset against LSU so no matter what happens he will be back with that record and quite frankly as a fan im ok if that is what happens

I think that is why they are waiting until 8-4, no matter how unlikely, is mathematically impossible for Jones to get. Either way, he is done, and justifiably so.

That is the thing. UGA has upgraded. We should not want to be in the category SC or Kentucky or Vandy. We want to win the East and play for championships like the old Tennessee.

It's not "conflict" when the TEAM fights. I give credit to Shoop for that...the defense BROUGHT IT! Rest of the team follows suit and we're a lot prouder of the team. No life after the game. Robot at the after game PC. He's done. Doesn't want to be here and has no one in the AD interested in otherwise. Interpret that. :)

WE are expected to compete with Georgia and Bama.

If you are the head coach of Tennessee and lose to those schools by a combined score of 86-7, in year 5, you should go find a place to coach in the AAC.
