I'm usually pretty level-headed about these kind of things, but I am Bass-level pissed about there being no word of Butch being fired/resigning today. And it's not just me being impatient; under different circumstances, I think waiting makes a lot of sense. But not under our current situation.

What makes me so pissed is just how patronizing it is to the fanbase, at this point. There's this whole sort of vibe from the AD and their media outlets that: "Seriously guys, everything is cool, and we might even keep ol Butch around for another year."

But we know that:
- it is year FIVE;
- we are 3-4, and 0-4 in the SEC;
- all preseason goals are off the table;
- we've lost to our 3 biggest rivals, 2 in absolutely humiliating fashion;
- the locker room is a mess;
- our offense hasn't scored a touchdown in 3 consecutive games.

You can't keep gaslighting the fanbase like this. We all know he isn't going to be here next year. Very few people still support him being here. Get an interim in there and give people something to cheer for as the season plays out. Quit insulting our intelligence.

He’s gone. No point in rushing, especially if they’re negotiating the buyout.

Yes, there is a point in rushing! Our loyal fan base and our players deserve better, and deserve the chance to win next Saturday night. In my opinion, we have slim to none chances with Butch on the sideline. Kentucky just got waxed last night… I guarantee they come in with fire in their belly’s. If Butch is on the sideline, I would venture to guess that we lose by double-digits.

Why not fire him now? If the decision has been made to terminate after Kentucky why not go ahead? Team may actually have a chance against UK with an interim.

AD trying to force his hand in negotiations??

Only reason I can think for allowing him to dangle in the breeze like this.

I have stayed pretty calm throughout this mess of a season. If you know me, that is saying something. However, if Butch is on the sidelines against Kentucky, It will come very close to pushing me to the point that I could care less about ever following this program again, no matter who we name as his replacement. I feel like all of my orange blood has been drained slowly out of me to the point that I don’t have much more left. I really hope the powers that be have the same feeling and pull this plug ASAP. Ridiculous isn’t even the word to describe it at this point.

The longer they dont fire him, the more I think Currie is trying to find an excuse to keep Butch another year. What an utter disaster this season is.

Ostensibly for leverage in negotiating Butch's buyout.

If I'm Butch, why would I let that bother me? If the Georgia and Alabama massacres weren't enough to shame him into leaving some of his buyout on the table, why would the upcoming games be any different?

LWS wouldnt have come out and said Gruden turned us down if Butch was coming back. Butch is out its just a matter of when and im sure it has more to do with his buyout than any last chance for him to save his job. Its over. It cant get any worse. So it doesnt matter if he coaches week to week as long as he is not coming back.

That's a possibility. Another is that there are a lot of moving parts and information we're not privy to. A third might be that Currie is giving him enough rope to hang himself.

I think the message is clear. The administration is okay with a 8-4 kind of season. The might even be okay with a 7-5 kind of season. It’s sad, but accept it and you won’t feel as bad.

And I know most of us would like him gone now, but it is not a foregone conclusion that an interim will be better.

Yes, it will give the fans hope because the admin is doing something, but the list of interims might be position coach's/coordinators for a reason and not head coaches.

What happens if the team still looks the same under an interim? Do we start railing to fire him/them too?

Fire Butch Today get interim coach for rest of year. fanbase will calm down, locker room will be better. It doesn't make sense to keep him

It may be time to for us all to realize that they don't give one single crap about the fanbase. They may be dangling Butch in the wind, but that's also what they're doing to us.

I don't know you can count on either of those happening. It won't while he's here, but there's a chance it won't under new management either.

im not going to accept it....ive gotten to where i dont even pay much attention to them now and i dont really care. I hate it bc i love UT but its exhausting and we dont deserve it. So if they are gonna half ass then im gonna half ass. Im not spending anything on that program until this gets better. Thats just me though...I understand some are different. Fans continue to pour millions into this program while the coach continues to shoot himself in the foot and cant even put a competitive team on the field in year 5.
